What are the possibilities for the national ID card? You know the one that was suppose to solve all of the immigration problems. While it did not go anywhere a few years ago, it is sure to make a come back soon. Well I would like to look at some of the possibilities for its use.
First one I would like to look at is a nationalized voting system. I thought about this while in line to vote today. Think about it, voting machines in convenience stores. No more standing line to do your civic duty. With a card that essentially has all your vital info on it, there would be no need for voter verification. The card would have your legal right to vote, your legal resident address, age, gender, all the required info to do all kinds of things.
All the proof and info provided before hand when application is made to get the card, card security could be made unbreakable. If more security is needed, small computer data chips or even card holders DNA could be incorporated within the cards makeup.
Fantasy, maybe not but for a little time. The not to distance future is going to bring all kinds of technological break throughs that will make this possible.
Another possibility could be the use of the card in paving the way for the nationalized health care system. To make this system work smoothly and quickly, a card with all of your vital info on it enables errorless data entry. Much like the armband in a hospital tracks a patient through the whole process; the ID card could track you from cradle to grave effortlessly.
You could start your car, unlock your doors, and pay your bills, and or a hundred other common everyday task as easy as swiping a credit card. Wow the possibilities are endless as to what the government will say this card can do.
I am afraid what will happen is that the use of this card will save the government so much money and time its implementation becomes a necessity. Personal privacy laws be damned. This is all just food for thought, but think of the future
