Stone is dirty, jagged, and hard. Pebbles get caught in your shoe, rocks scrape your skin, and all in all it’s a very harsh material. There is another side to stone though it’s also durable, beautiful, and comes in a huge variety of colors and styles.

When stone gets cut from a mountain, it is originally cut into giant pieces known as slabs. Slabs have the look of enormous landscapes. Often they will have vibrant colors, splotches or streaks of reds or blues running through them. These colors are caused by impurities in the make up of the stone. Stone can be, or have, any color that exists in nature. When slabs are cut or broken down, each piece has a unique design, and can then be turned into any number of beautiful decorating items.

Stone tables are a very common household item. Stone tables are one of a kind, and beautiful. They also match stone and ceramic flooring. They can easily be set up indoors or outdoors, and they dont stain, because rocks don’t stain.

Stone can also be crafted into desk clocks, wall clocks, coasters, and more. Almost anything can be made from stone. Stone is durable, so these items last, but it is also easy to clean, and has so many different varieties.

By bringing stone into a design scheme, you give the room a sense of solidarity. A rustic feeling that you can’t achieve easily in modern homes. It comes in almost any color you can imagine, and each item is one of a kind.

So next time you dismiss rocks as just being, rocks, think about the many aspects of stone decorating that are out there.
