If you're planning on having a new roof there are a few factors to be considered first. There are many different types of roofing material available even though mainly ceramic tiles are used in this country. The type of roof, materials and climate will all be factors in how long your roof with last. Generally roofs last for 20 years when properly maintained. Ceramic tiles which are most popular material used on houses are hard wearing. These tiles are very easy to replace and low cost. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes fitting many different roofs.

Slate is another common roofing material which is very strong and waterproof. Slate is very long lasting but it can be a bit on the expensive side. Because slate is heavy it needs to be supported with very strong material. If you have a specific type of slate, finding replacements for repairs can be tricky.

Felt is another strong waterproof material that is used commonly today. You will see felt on garages and garden sheds. It is an inexpensive material which means it's a great option for people on a tight budget or just wants a roofing solution for outbuildings or garages.

Another option is fibreglass which again lasts up to 20 years. You will require little maintenance for this type of roof and it comes in many different colours. The beauty of fibreglass roofs is that the material resists water and mold which will keep you roof looking nice for many years to come.

Metal roofing which can be very cost effective is very popular these days. There are many different types of metal material used for roofs. Corrungated iron is often used which is inexpensive. Galvanized steel is another inexpensive option but the material is known to rust easily. Aluminum and copper are very popular metal roofing materials and are very strong and rust resistant.

Google seems to have replaced the Yellow pages when it comes to finding builders and trades people. Finding a roofing company is so simple these days thanks to the internet. Most companies have a website and the best companies with nothing to hide, will show pictures of their work with testimonials of previous happy clients. Like any service it is worth your time getting as many quotes as you can from many different companies as possible. You can then compare them all and chose the right company to do the job for you. When you are searching on the internet make sure you type the town or area you live in as well as roofing to get the most local companies.
