Men are not going to discuss the benefits of using a facial moisturizer during their weekly poker game.  No men will be having a beer at the bowling alley and yakking about which wrinkle cream best relaxed their crow's feet.  Guess what though…Men really do use wrinkle cream, and it matters to them how their skin looks, too.  Industry insiders, if they looked at the demographics of their sales would see this, and it surprises this author that no wrinkle cream manufacturer markets directly toward men.   For men's sake, the wrinkle cream industry should stop ignoring them, and launch some male-specific wrinkle products.  When this happens, the following characteristics of winning men's wrinkle creams will separate the men from the boys.

One of the first things a wrinkle manufacturer must grasp is the look and style of the packaging for the cream, and how it must differ from the packaging of a woman's wrinkle cream.  Men have egos.  (I know, hard to believe) These egos will not allow a pink and purple jar with the image of a woman holding a rose pedal to sit on their bathroom sink.  It's just not going to happen.   To circumvent this marketing disaster, a men's wrinkle cream has to be in a masculine colored package with a masculine image, if any.  The package can be sexy and elegant, just not feminine.   Good colors are black or silver, or maybe even dark blue.  This may seem silly, but it really isn't.  Men insist on buying a product that was intended for them specifically, and not something that looks like they borrowed it from their mothers.  Regardless of how well a product works, men will resist buying anything not following this fundamental factor.

The scent of the wrinkle cream is another very important factor that a wrinkle cream must consider, if they are to succeed marketing to men.  This is definitely a glaringly different factor seeked out by women and men in their own respective wrinkle creams.   Erase from your mind any floral scents.  Forget you even know what bath oil smells like.  A successful men's wrinkle cream has to smell masculine or neutral.   An unscented cream is fine, but also to be considered could be citrus scents or even mint.    It might also be interesting if the men's wrinkle cream had a cologne type of smell, much like men's aftershave.  These more "manly" scents will encourage men to buy, rather than repel them.

The level of concentration or potency of the active ingredients in the wrinkle cream will have to be increased, in order to satisfy men's needs.  It is typical for men to have a higher tolerance or resistance toward medicinal treatments than do women.  For example, a man probably needs another pill of Tylenol to get rid of his headache.  The same theory applies to wrinkle creams.  A successful anti-wrinkle cream for a man needs to have a very high potency of active ingredients.  Of course, many wrinkle creams designed for women have high potencies, and it is these levels of formulas that should be duplicated for a men's initiative.

The effectiveness of the wrinkle cream for men is an absolutely crucial factor.  Put plainly, a men's wrinkle cream has to do what it claims.  The degree of patience of a man is limited enough, however, when sampling a "beauty" product, they will be much faster to give up on the process if no immediate results are showing.  This higher likelihood to abandon treatment is due to the underlying lack of ease a person feels when first trying something outside of their realm of comfort.  Like all consumers, the male species will insist that the product really works at eliminating their wrinkles.   If the wrinkle cream fails to deliver, poor reviews will spread, and no men will be buying the wrinkle cream in the future.

The characteristics highlighted in this article represent some very important ones, of those needed to launch a successful wrinkle cream for men.  The changes in scent, packaging, and strength of ingredients will make a wrinkle cream more appealing to men, and hopefully, more beneficial for them to use.  Hopefully, in the years to come, the wrinkle cream marketplace will feature more anti-wrinkle creams marketed toward men, so that men too, can look their best and youngest, and that their skin can remain healthy and fit.

The author is an editor on many wrinkle cream review sites, and helps provide reviews and recommendations for wrinkle cream for men, as well as the wrinkle cream industry as a whole.
