I'm breaking the cycle, oh I will not do that,
I'm breaking the chains, and trouncing the traps.
I'm firm, I'm committed, I hold the solution,
I will not retract my new resolution.
Man that sounds good, I think I'm on track,
here comes temptation--then  oops I'm right back.

I try to resist believe me I do,
I strive and I strive, I try to stay true.
I want to do good and stick to my course,
but these habits are bad, they won't give a divorce.
To do good are you kidding, I'd love to do that,
but evil is present drawing me back.
So weeping and calling for God to forgive,
please give me a chance, so I vow, so I live.
As soon as my tears are dried from my face,
I'm back on that cycle with a tighter embrace.

Resistance is futile I've often heard,
like driven cattle I'm among the herd.
I try to withstand this tempting force,
but I'm back on this cycle right on course.
Round and round there he goes,
when does it stop no man knows.
Three steps forward then two steps back,
this cycle is vicious, their claws don't retract.

Breaking the cycle is not in self will,
hold on for a moment, just think and be still.
This cycle is broken by the Lord of Hosts,
who poured out His Spirit, the Holy Ghost.
Power from heaven given to man,
power to change fulfilling His plan.
Power to love, forgive and forget,
power to heal, removing regrets.
Power for mountains to become like rubble,
power for peace in times of trouble.
Power to be exceedingly blessed,
power to stand and boldly confess.
Power to all who simply receive,
the cycle is broken to all who believe.

This is the word of the Lord...... not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit ,says the Lord.
                                                                                                               (Zechariah 4:6 NKJV)
