Errors signify the distraction from what is expected to be performed. Same is the case with memory cards, in which an error message is an indicative that further photo access way is not going to be smooth. Here, we will discuss about a memory card error message, which appears when the user puts the card into the camera, which states like:

"Card has wrong format. Press OK to format"

The users report that, as the message say, if they click ‘OK' to hope for further success, another error message halts their way, which is like:

"Unable to format"

Owners of new memory cards, who don't have any set of precious data, may find the stated problem less frightening as compared to those having tons of valuable photos on them. So for them, the following reading can prove somewhat helpful.

See the instruction manual first, may this will help to determine the camera controls to allow the formatting of the card. If you see don't find any alternative way, you need to check the card. May be the camera is not recognizing the card and the reason could be that the card is write protected. Actually, there is a slot on the card, which possesses a switch and can be responsible to lock the card. See, if this technique helps.

If all tricks fail, then look for the card corruption. Use the card reader to see if you can read the card data. If you find success over here, then the camera might not be performing well, see for its repair. The problem may be lying with the prongs in the slot of camera, which may be bent or damaged.

However, if you find the card corrupted and are unable to see the contents, then get ready to replace it with the new one. The data conscious users may not find this solution completely worth as they will want to perform photo recovery first, before any replacement. So there is a good news for them as unless the corruption is physical, there are picture recovery software available, which can fulfill their wish.
