Many Small Moments

Many small moments,
Just one at a time,
To make me the man I've become,
Just many small moments,
Some up and some down,
And finally to them I succumb.

Many small moments,
Since I was a child,
And many small moments to come,
I've learned from the bad ones,
Been helped by the good,
I know that through them I have won.

Many small moments,
From here to the end,
I welcome them all one by one,
Another small moment,
Is when I am gone,
And moments in Heaven begun.

Simple Things

Simple things remembered well,
Of times so long ago,
And it's those things I need to tell,
Before I have to go.

Simple things of childhood days,
And things I hold so dear,
To tell how I remember them,
From year to year to year.

Just simple things I did each day,
When I was but a kid,
Yet simple things were precious times,
I loved the things I did.

Like climbing trees and building forts,
And playing in the dirt,
And then when I was older,
In my teens I loved to flirt.

The girls were such a wonderment,
And I was so enthralled,
But most of them were out of reach,
Or so I do recall.

A simple job, a simple life,
But when the day is through,
I am content with what I have,
I have more than I knew.

For now my life has come full round,
And I am looking back,
And as I do I see the boy,
Who never suffered lack.

Those simple things held hidden wealth,
Which money could not buy,
And in them I will find my rest,
Until the day I die.
