Here is just another memory from my childhood. Enjoy. Us kids on the farm, Never did any harm, Just good-ol'-boys havin' some fun, We had a young steer, It was nothing to fear, But, boy, how it made our friends run.
It was really quite tame, Though they thought it insane, It would chase them until they would fall, It would stand there and wait, By the fence or the gate, Then chase again, having a ball. It made us quite giddy, When a friend from the city, Tried to ride the young steer like a man, It gave a quick buck, But our friend had no luck, Broke his tooth on the 'outdoor can'. And me and my brother, How we'd tease our poor mother, Shooting clothes-pins from off the clothes-line, Just every odd pin, It was really no sin, And the clothes, they would hang there just fine. Now I miss those great days, As the time slips away, But the memories are there to be had, And when life gets me down, And I come all unwound, Just to think of those days makes me glad.
