I began sleeping better, not longer. When I would wake up I felt slimmer, my tummy felt tighter. I can't say for sure if it was the cortisol control product, or if the new schedule agreed with me really well. I don't think I have been overly concerned about my weight. But, I have taken a childish glee in the body changes. My husband has watched in amusement when I go to him and say, "Look Honey, my pants are falling off, again. I guess I'll have to go shopping."
Cortisol control products. Most of them are receiving negative publicity of some sort or another. That seems to happen to almost any product that gains popularity. Look at eggs. Eggs are bad for you, eggs are good for you. The same with beef, milk, and on and on. I think you have to decide for yourself. The thing about cortisol control supplemenatation is that most of the products have a generous guarantee. You can try them without risk.
I don't think the products work for everyone. My mother tried the product I used first and it didn't help her out. Now, two friends at work are trying them. In a month or two I'll let you know how things are going for them. One friend, actually my boss commented that after the first two doses she looked at a cookie and had absolutely no interest.
I put mild effort into a diet reorientation. Okay, I became a little obsessessed. The thing is I was never really uncomfortable. I eliminated most white based products (sugar, flour, salt), and #1--I let go of Vanilla Coffee from the convenience stores. I was like an alcoholic with that stuff. The second vice, flour tortillas and tortilla chips. When we make burritos or tacos for family dinner now, I just convert to a taco salad. Painless, really.
Another thing I learned that gave me the "AHA, I see the light" response was learning that different fruits and vegatables have different effects on our blood sugar, and therefore some are better choices than others. Then, I became far more selective about starchy vegetables. I began weighing the nutritional value against the glucose index.
Attitude. Let's say you are going to the store. I highly recommend focusing on what you can have than what you can't. Some of my favorite foods are snap top canned tuna for those emergencies when you've gotta have something, now. Count out or weigh servings of almonds to munch on guilt free through out the day. A few there and a few here can be satisfying, just make sure you know how much you are eating. One of my favorite emergency resources is Hood Carb Countdown Smoothies. They are only 100 calories, 25% fat and 3 net carbs. They are a bit sweet at first, but once you get used to them they are very satisfying. This tip I got From Woman's World magazine (Sorry, I don't remember the issue or the writer): Eat Cereal. Eat Kashi.
I want to go a bit farther in talking about cereals. There are several low carb cereals on the market. I didn't like most of them. Then, because of the article above I started looking for Kashi. Some of the Kashi products had more carbs than I wanted to devote to a single serving, then I found Puffed Kashi. Yippeee! 70 calories per cup, not per half cup or quarter cup as some granolas. 5 calories from fat and 15 grams of carbs. AND its made from 7 wholegrains & sesame. What a find!
Becoming carb-calorie-fat content aware, made me look at everything in a different light. I highly recommend being careful about the cereal bars, or snack bars you choose and any supplemental drink. If an item is low fat, but high in carbs you could be shooting yourself in the foot.
Goals. I never thought I could lose as much weight as I already have. I would choose markers. For example: my weight before I went to work for CMNM, my weight before we opened the cafe, my weight before I had Skye, my weight before I worked in Cripple Creek, my weight when we first moved to Colorado Springs, my weight before I had Luke. Right now, I am working on my weight before I met my husband of 17 years (about 6 more pounds) that will also meet another goal to be below the 150 lb marker on the scales (about 4 pounds).
My intentions here are not to brag on myself I want to help others who have been in the same frustrating weight predicament I was in. If you are trying to lose stubborn weight, I know first hand it can be done. I want you to be able to do it too, it feels so good. Again, I am not a nutritionist or a physician, but, I think I am obligated now to support anyone who wants to make some weighty changes.
