I would like you to think about whether or not you agree with the following statements:
1. Guilt, blame, and anger are negative emotions. 2. Negative feelings and emotions can cause stress. 3. Stress takes it toll on your body. 4. Stress can make you sick. 5. Stress can cause disease.
Do you agree with any or all of these statements? If so, next consider the following statements.
6. Being happy, peaceful and loving are positive emotions. 7. Positive emotions can feel really good. 8. When we love, we feel good. 9. When we love, we can heal ourselves and others. 10. Loving ourselves can heal disease.
Do you agree with any or all of the ten statements? Many people have difficulty with #9 and #10 as we are ‘conditioned' to think that we couldn't possibly have that much power over our own health and on the health of others. We rely on others for our healing: doctors, dentists, and psychologists, for example. While I'm not suggesting that people completely ignore the medical profession, I am suggesting that an openness to alternative health care techniques is sometimes the answer to many health issues. Many people in the medical profession use combinations of alternative health practices with traditional treatments as they are seeing the benefits of such approaches.
The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an approach that is gaining in popularity around the world. EFT is an alternative healing technique, developed by Gary Craig. It doesn't require any needles, but it uses acupressure points of the body where one taps with their fingers on these points. It is based on a belief that there's a relationship between energy, our emotions and our health. While it can look really silly if you do it in public, it's been known to help a great number of people, including myself. It's easy and simple to learn the basic technique. There are no drugs to take, no needles and there are many great practitioners out there from which to learn. Often referred to as "tapping," I have been a practicing EFT over a year now and have found great success, particularly in areas of pain relief and releasing past emotional issues.
Every new year brings an opportunity for us to look forward. This year, I am living intentionally by loving myself. I am loving myself so much that I am going to take great care in how I'm feeling towards myself and particularly towards the perception I have of my body, of what I eat and my exercise habits. I am no longer going to "scold" myself for something that I've eaten, or for that exercise plan that I didn't follow, or when I put on some clothes that are too tight. I'm going to consciously make an effort to love myself unconditionally anyhow! I'll use EFT to tap on all this negative "self-talk" that so many of us often have: when I have a food craving, and to about why I'm resisting exercise so much! I have found that often the answers are hidden deep down within ourselves. Tapping has been an excellent way for me to discover them, diminish their intensity and eventually release them. There's still more to do or I wouldn't be overweight! So I'm looking forward to loving myself in 2009.
What about you? Will you love yourself, too?

hi barbara,
i can personally attest to the consequences of stress, i have Crohn's disease, and when i get upset, i not only get a rash all over, but my digestive system is off. it is no fun, so i have been trying to keep the crohn's at bay-real easy to do during a divorce, however, i've managed pretty well.
feeling good is so much nicer than feeling tired and sickly.
i was going to a reflexologist who was wonderful in her massage and wisdom. i hope to return when i get some money.
Sue, Yes, stress has all kinds of consequences. It's good that you've managed pretty well with your Crohn's disease. I wish you an abundance of healing for 2009. Warmly, Barbara
Hummmmmm Barbara, I can attest to the fact that stress is a killer. I know, I have been there. Stress is a definate negative!! I agree with all 10 points that you make, including number 9 and 10. Have you ever heard of "Bio-Feedback"? It is the power that one has to control ones own emotions, and the area around him/her. Bio Feeback works. I took the class, and became a believer that the mind can do great things if you have the ability to let it happen. I really liked this article, and found it very interesting, and I want to thank you for sharing it......Your fan, and friend in pen....Gary.
Gary, Yes, I've heard of biofeedback while I've never studied that...I've read a lot about other things that are similar in theory, however. Thanks for taking the time to stop, read and comment here! All the best, Barbara Respond to this comment
