To help people see Broadway plays, concerts, and other types of performances, some organizations provide half-price tickets. Broadway performances have an enormous popularity and hence its tickets are always in high demand. Such demand pushes up prices too. However, there are certain ways in which we can get discounted and half-price tickets.

Email newsletters; student, military, senior discounts; standing room only; rush tickets and lottery tickets are different ways to get discount or half-price Broadway tickets.

Discounts of nearly 40% to 50% on Broadway tickets are provided by certain companies such as Theater Mania, Playbill, Hitshow Club, Broadway Box, Tele Charge, New York TV Show Tickets, and TKTS among others.

TKTS, operated by nonprofit Theatre Development Fund, sells half-price tickets of certain shows in the middle of Times Square. It allows Broadway tickets with 25%, 35%, and sometimes even 50% off full price.

Email newsletters are sent on registration by companies such as Playbill, Hitshow Club, and Theater Mania. Such mails provide information as to the available discounts on certain Broadway show tickets. Theater Mania offers same-day discount tickets and so one can reserve seats for the same day performances at 40% to 50% off normal prices.

With a fee-based subscription service, Theater Extra offers discounted or even free Broadway tickets to its members.

Research shows that almost 98% of all Broadway tickets are sold by ticket agencies like Tele Charge and Ticket Master. Buying tickets from such agencies does not ensure low priced tickets; however, Tele Charge does have special ticket offers for some shows. Such tickets are only for students, seniors, and military people and have to be bought in-person, showing relevant identity cards.

High 5, a not-for-profit organization, allows considerable discount on Broadway tickets for students aged 13 to 18 years.

Some shows and performances also offer standing room Broadway tickets. Such tickets are available on discounts.

Rush tickets are available at the theater counters within $20 to $25 at a certain time for some hours. Such tickets are, however, available for certain shows on the day of the performance.
