Love is in the air once again as Valentine's Day is fast approaching. The day can be a dreaded day for those single and alone. It doesn't have to be, however. Get up and get with it.
Our society has come a long way and singles should celebrate being alone especially on a day when couples are struggling to live up to made up expectations. So get dressed, wipe off those blues and get going. Here are some fun activities to do this Valentine's day.
Buy you something nice
If you are a woman, send yourself flowers. Why do only women in a relationship get flowers? You deserve them too! Make sure to have them delivered to make yourself feel even nicer. If you are a male, go on and splurge and buy you that electronic gadget you have been drooling over. Just because you are not with another doesn't mean you don't need a treat this holiday too.
Go overboard with pampering
Schedule a massage, pedicure, manicure-the works. Indulge in a long hot shower or bubble bath. Spend the day relaxing in fragrances. Indulge yourself with a nice dressy outfit or wardrobe. Just because you are single does not mean you shouldn't go the extra mile in looking good.
Remember the good
Make a list of the good things about being single and about yourself. Sometimes, we get so caught up in feeling sorry for ourselves because we think we are alone that we miss out on all the great things about being single. Take this day to write them down and remember how lucky being single can be during this period in your life.
Go dancing
Visit the cool club you always wanted to try. You might be surprised how many people are out on the town alone this holiday. Dancing is also great exercise so you are sure to release endorphins to keep a smile on your face.
Go on a blind date
I know it does not sound appealing during this time of the year, but what if you took a risk and said yes to the annoying person always trying to fix you up.
Throw a party
Nothing keeps your mind off of feeling alone more then the realization just how much you are loved. Invite all your friends over for a game night or night of conversation. Be sure to go all out with the cheesy heart decorations. Go for a cheesy theme like come as your favorite romantic movie character or an 80's theme. Get creative and have awards for best costume.
Buy your parents dinner
This could go for grandparents as well. You always put off seeing them. Now is the perfect night to take them dinner or take them out and spend time with them. They will appreciate the fact that you gave up your holiday to show your love for them.
Spend time with friends
Call up all your friends and plan a fun night. It could be a trip to the movies, museum, beach, etc. Just enjoy the fact that as a single you can go out whenever you please and stay out as late as you please.
These are just a few suggestions. The important thing to remember is that this is the best time of your life. Live it up! Celebrate the holiday like every other person in the country. Show love and be loved and have fun while doing it!
