I am the type of person who has a lot of I wants, but thank God with age comes wisdom and now I just have the I wants, and don't act on them quite so quickly (even pass some of them by), without a lot of investigation. It only took me two months of investigative work (web surfing), and talking to the gals (my artists friends), to know that I really wanted a printer that was capable of printing larger pictures. It's not a feature I use often but it is nice to know I have it available. It was rated by Amazon higher than any other printer in that price range. I use Amazon for purchasing and product feedback a lot since we live in a small community but, I do buy locally whenever possible. I purchased my printer at Staple's because they too stand behind their products and they are local. I was a little hesitant about buying the printer because of some of the negative reviews but, my husband insisted that I couldn't go wrong with an HP because that is how HP got their start and made their name by making printers. I passed my old HP printer off to my hubby because he got a new computer (HP) and his old HP Officejet printer which was still working great after about 10 or 11 years but it was a parallel printer and his new HP computer did not have the hookup for the old printer. Now we are an HP Family.
The printer is large in size but, it has a very sleek look and for what it is capable of doing I don't think it is overbearing.
Pros: The cost of the printer was around three hundred dollars. That is a lot less than you would pay for other printers with the same capabilities.
You can print black and white documents, and/or color pictures all the way up to 13x19 inch size. When you want to print something there is a menu that comes up that is unbelievably simple. It shows you little icons and you can choose one to adjust the settings to draft or normal when you are printing something for everyday use, settings for posters, and pictures with or without margins. It prints beautiful high quality pictures that you can frame, hang on the wall and be proud of. You can also print a single page from the back without emptying the paper reservoir.
The ink comes in separate cartridges for each color and therefore you only need to replace cartridges as you need them.
Cons: It did not come with the Ethernet cord and the ink cartridges are only partially full. Be sure you buy an extra set of cartridges. If you purchase an extra set of cartridges I would recommend the HP XL packages because you get many more prints per cartridge at less than twice the costs. Be aware that the picture/document count is listed on each package in the upper left hand corner.
There is a compatibility issue with Office Word but HP is currently working to correct that. I can still use the printer but I have to choose it in manually each time I print for right now.
Options that might interest you are a duplex for double sided printing.
Footnote***There is also a networking model, HP Officejet Pro K8600dn although; there may be some connectivity issues there if HP hasn't worked them out yet.
ALL IN ALL I THINK IT IS A GREAT PRODUCT AND I LOVE MINE!!!!!
