I have to be impressed how President Obama expressed his frustration with the Republican Party when they say that his stimulus plan is "Pork". I had to love his response to that statement saying, "He is the one who inherited this deficit that republicans had created and doubled during their tenure in office". Now I know that not everybody will agree with this article, and that is okay, because it is of the opinion of the writer, and does not represent anyone but the writer. That said..

When President Obama addressed the media and the nation last night, He was very deliberate to mention that we do not have the time, (we meaning the politicians on Capitol Hill, as well as in "The House", and in "The Senate" to concentrate on campaigning for their next election, and need to concentrate their efforts to start fixing the problems that we face with our nations spiraling downward trend in our economy. He also stated that if we continue on this downward trend, and do nothing, that America might not be able to bounce back. "Action needs to be taken now, he echoed to the media, Democrats and Republicans need to work together to get the American people back to work". He is passionate about this, and so is this writer.

AMEN...finally a man who isn't afraid to step on toes! He is not trying to battle the republicans, rather, he is trying to get them to work with himl After all, in this writers opinion, I'm all for getting the economy going again, and creating jobs so that the citizens aren't afraid to go out and spend money again, and banks will start lending again! Call it wishful thinking, or say that I have my head in the clouds, and call me nostalgic, but I believe in my country, and I believe we can fix this.

Someone has to make a move. I'm getting to the point where I really don't like either the Democratic OR Republicans parties. I am so sick of the bickering that goes on between the two, nothing gets done with this continuous arguing. WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING GUYS AND GALS. Stop the arguing, and "get er done"!! Anything that shows movement for crying out loud.

The problem with the congress and the senate.... everybody's afraid to make a decision, because they think that it will be political suicide, well stop thinking about your political careers, and yourselves, and start doing what you are paid to do by "We The People"! Somebody has to make a decision.... people are dying financially out here, loosing their jobs, their homes, going on welfare. So get your political head out of your political arses, and make a decision, and make it quickly!! "We the People" are tired of waiting, and loosing everything we've got!!! Lawmakers in the "House", MAKE a DECISION! This is your boss speaking.

Perhaps we should put you in the unemployment lines, and let you taste "first hand" on how we feel. Perhaps you should loose your million dollar houses, and put you in some cramped apartments, let you feel what we feel, perhaps your electricity should be shut off during the winter, and let your babies suffer the cold without heat, and let you feel what we feel, perhaps, you should eat Top Ramen to get by, and serve spaghetti almost every night because that is all you can afford to feed your families, so that you may know how we feel. Perhaps you need to spend some "real time" in the "real world", and see how we feel. No more limos, just a VW, no more jets, just a regular economy class seat on the "regular" airlines, like the rest of us poor folks. This I would propose if I were in power, just to give your collective Asses a taste of reality!!

The only "PORK" that I see in this stimulus package, is the pork sitting in the House seats, unable to make a decision, and that is the only pork I see. At least President Obama is willing to put his head on the chopping block to try to do his best to get us back to work, lets give him the chance to do so!! So, to the House and the Senate, and all the lawmakers on Capitol Hill, snap out of it, and make a decision...Signed...Your Boss...Gary W. Halsey Sr. (Joe Blo Citizen)

David, I am very passionate about all the Talk going around on the stimulus, perhaps it is not the total answer, but putting jobs back out there, that is a good plan, getting banks to loan again, that is a good plan....I hear allot of lip service from the Republicans on capitol hill, they had their shot with bringing the credibility back to the American people to pull us out of this mess, and they failed, now its tiime to see what the democrats can come up with, at least they WANT to do something to slow down the downward spiral, I just want to see what they can do...passionate, yes.....I really appreciate your opinions and your reading my stuff not to mention your wonderful work....and I appreciate you reading this, means allot to me....I want to send it to the hill so bad, lol......your friend in pen....and fan.....Gary

Gary, I enjoyed reading your opinion about last night's speech. I read what others say they would do and so much of it sounds logical. I am not ready to crucify anyone. President Obama has only been in charge for a few weeks and as you so clearly pointed out his response, he did not cause this problem we're faced but inherited it. This isn't a cop out but I'm simply waiting to see what happens and carrying on because I opted out of the recession. I have chosen not to participate and keep my trust where it has always been and that is not in government, luck or man.

Nice to meet you through your writings. Thanks for this post.

Avis, thank you so much for your comments to this. I know that everybody is quick to judge Obama, and most think they are political analyst, but in fact we aren't, we just give our opinions, and I think you have a pretty good idea there that you are pointing out. I really enjoy your work, and it is a pleasure to meet you through your work as well....thanks for taking the time to read, you friend in pen......Gary.

I agree, Gary, something needs to be done, and socialized medicine is noit it either. Did you know that was part of this plan? Unfortunately, very little of this "stimulus" pckage has ANYTHING to do with stimulating the economy, whether by creating jobs or anything. By the way, each job "created" will cost you, the boss, hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I refuse to believe you know what's really in this package. Yes, do something, but do the right thing, and this is not it.
We'll agree to disagree. This "plan" will only make things worse.

Ken, thank you for reading the article, and as I mentioned in the article, not everyone will agree. I am familiar with the stimulus plan, but apparently I am not reading it the way you are, which is okay....we don't have to agree. I'm just saying that compared to what the republicans have come up with.....well....we're there. That is all I am saying. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, and I fought for that right as a veteran, and I will certainly respect yours also......so we can agree to disagree as you mentioned, and it's okay, I enjoy your writing, and will always continue to be a fan, I believe you to be well informed, and knowledgable, and also my friend in pen....yours truly, Gary P.S. I'm all for a certain form of socialized medicine, although not entirely, I think it should be revised, with incentives.....but that is another story....

Collective Asses and "PORK" sitting in the House seats…  LOL. You just turned me into a vegetarian...  Gary!  I don't normally comment on American politics (none of my damn business, plus I don't get much of the “political jargon") but this article broke it down into English I can understand-- and genuine passion I can appreciate.

You've quickly become a darling around here (hope the term of endearment doesn't offend).  Love your writing.  Don’t stop!

Well thank you Christine, what a wonderful way to comment on this article. I guess I do have a tendency to use those colorful metaphors in a "real" since. I feel so bad that Our President inherited such a cluster of problems, and most folks would say that "he knew what he was getting into when he took office", but I will wager anyone, that no matter "who" was in the Oval Office Seat, they would be under the firing range as Obama. People are really quick to judge any president who gets in there, but no one offers a fix? I sent a letter into Capitol Hill, the White House, and I was most impressed that Obama, has made it so you can make your statements either through a form, with somewhat limited text, 500 characters, or you can write him, OR you can call!! I'm impressed, In the days of Bush, everytime I tried to write an email to the White House, I would get a system generated note that said something to the effect "Due to the influx of mail being sent to the White House, It is not possible to respond to all, we'd like to thank you for your message" (that they didn't answer or read....how weird is that. At least this president is makeing it possible to communicate with the White House....And anyone can write to him. I really appreciate your more that kind response to this article, and I do enjoy your work so much as well....please keep on writing, I can't wait to read your work, your fan and friend in pen, Gary.......

I feel you on this one, Gary.  My opinion is that many Americans don’t fully appreciate how good they got with this guy.  He is no doubt imperfect, but his 21st Century approach to governing is already making many world leaders (still in the 1900s) squirm in their seats.  It’s good that people like you are writing to him, it’ll keep him on his toes, which from reading his books I believe is what he wants, and also make him the President Americans like you want him to be - and he wants to be.

You think you have a problem with two parties arguing. Try living in Canada, where we have four parties arguing. At least in the USA, when you elect a President, he has a majority of the votes. In Canada, we often end up with a Minority Government, which is what we have right now. A Minority Government is simply this: you have four parties, and one party happens to get more votes than any of the other three individually, but if you add up the votes of the other three, they total more votes than the party received who won. That is a Minority Government. The one of the other three which got the next highest votes, becomes the Opposition Party. The Minority Government is always under scrutiny from the Opposition Party and the other two parties who got the lowest votes. Talk about arguing. If you get any Canadian television where you live, you should turn into "Question Period", which is televised parliamentary debate among the four political parties. Talk about political fighting!

Wow David, I never thought about that. That would really drive me crazy!!! How do the Canadians put up with that? I have never lived in Canada, its true, and you know, you just taught me something.....life could be worse!! I never really knew that, but then again, you are never to old to learn. Wow, I am going to have to read up on that. But seriously, I really don't have a problem with arguments and debate, its just that at this particular time, I don't have the patience for it. Something needs to be done in my country, collectively.....and fast. That is the only thing that has got me a little "antsy". As a matter of fact, I love dabate.....But your right, at this time, I do have a problem  with it, but now that you have shed some light on your government, I guess things could be worse....Thanks for teaching me something today. I will read up on your government.....interesting........Thanks for reading my article my friend, and as always, I love your work.......Your friend in pen......and fan.......Gary......Be well.

Gary, as always, I enjoy reading your writing. I don't have a particular party that I would say I care for right now. I do totally agree that President Obama deserves a chance and I do believe that he is making an effort to combat a very large battle. Not only does he have our economy to deal with ( which is totally screwed up right now ) but 2 wars and thousands of our troops over sea in 3rd world countries. I think the senate, congress, and anyone else who holds a seat in power up should give him the same chance. As far as the other comment about socialized medicine, well, as you know, I work in the medical field and deal with a lot of this stuff and what I don't understand is why we can't come up with a new medical plan that takes the good parts of any medical plan and combine them and come up with one great plan that would be affordable to us because as you know and have experienced, the cost of medical insurance has become unaffordable for a lot of Americans'. Anyway Bubba, I love you and enjoy reading your articles, keep them coming. John
