The behavior of someone suffering from OCD will never be fully understood by the person looking on. As with many doings, if you `re the watcher and have never experienced a particular something you don`t understand, then it will make it more difficult to comprehend these doings, or even accept having to watch the unexplainable compulsions carried out by someone diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder. It is even pointless to ask the person, doing the doings, why they do what they do because there is every possibility that they don`t know either

OCD overtime can destroy a person on the inside as well as them looking on from the outside.

Is there a cure for over compulsive disorder? Yes just stop what you are doing. Wouldn`t it be great my fellow sufferers if it were as simple as that. Don`t them people with no understanding realize that above anything else, that we would love to stop locking the door 10 times or plumping up the cushions at every possible convenience and, allow people into our homes with their shoes on. There are different types of medication and treatments for OCD, medicines, relaxation classes, herbal tonics and counseling. Depending on the patient and how severe their symptoms will determine the right treatment for their ailment.

First things first, to help encourage treatment to work is to face up to your problem, and by accepting you have the disease will increase the success of you being cured. What is OCD and is it life threatening or contagious. It is not a disease you catch and as for being a killer, then the answer is no, however it has been known to push a person near to the brink of committing suicide. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is an illness and the cause of personal obsessions and active compulsions. Each sufferer will have their own way in conducting their compulsions and behavior's. Patients know their actions make no sense, but sadly can't ignore or stop themselves from doing them.

Them, diagnosed with OCD are easily confused over specific issues connected with obsessive compulsive disorder. The confusion relates to the obsessions/compulsions. Differences between the two is that, obsessions are ideas, images and impulses that repeatedly turn over and over in a person`s mind. They lose their ability to control their way of thinking finding it difficult retain steadiness in thought. Compulsions have a different affect leaving a person nervous and afraid. An OCD sufferer believes that by carrying out particular behaviors will help rid these thoughts. To clarify better, obsessive thoughts could be about germs and because of this the need to wash more than what is considered healthy happens.

Common OCD Obsessions:

  • Fear of germs
  • Hating body waste
  • Desire for organization, symmetry (balance) and exactness
  • Stress over a task not done right
  • Dread of evil thoughts
  • Constant thinking about certain sounds, images, words or numbers all the time
  • Need for reassurance
  • Afraid of hurting another person
  • Common OCD Compulsions:
  • Excessive hand washing
  • Double checking door locks etc
  • Hoarding newspapers or other
  • Looking for constant reassurance
  • Ordering and arranging items in specific ways
  • Counting over and over to reach a certain number

OCD over time has progressed to a serious figure as shown in the US where it is reported 3 million people aged 18 to 54 have suffered this at some time in their lives. What is the cause of obsessive compulsive disorder? Statements to day list that OCD has something to do with the chemicals in the brain that carry messages from one nerve cell to another. One specific chemical namely serotonin helps restrict the repetitive moves a person makes. Some people can have an insufficient amount of serotonin in their body. Particular individuals see bettering in themselves after taking medication which increases the amount of serotonin in the brain. Anxieties, phobias even panic attacks can happen. Depression is primarily another, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), an eating disorder or a learning disorder such as dyslexia.

OCD is not a condition solely directed to adults, children to can suffer it and, should you recognize these symptoms in your child then talk to your GP. Treatments come in various types and methods to accommodate the various types of ways that people in particular handle and cope with the disease. How serious the issue (severe or mild) will determine treatment.

Treatments include: clomipramine (brand name: Anafranil), fluoxetine (brand name: Prozac), sertraline (brand name: Zoloft), paroxetine (brand name: Paxil) and fluvoxamine (brand name: Luvox). Talking to an expert can help most profoundly making counseling very therapeutic. What may work for one in the way of treatments may not work for another. Counseling therapists are experts in this field and no matter what you have to say about your illness it will not come as a shock. Folk tend to shy away from seeking medical help because they are embarrassed or will not admit to being ill.

If it is suggested for you to have behavioral therapy, then you can expect from a curing session - being asked to face up to particular circumstances that trigger your obsessions and anxieties. Therapy is not rushed and you will never be asked to do anything your uncomfortable with.

Home Remedy Treatments for Depression

1 Brazil nuts - Selenium, a trace mineral found plentiful in Brazil nuts can ease depression. People with low levels of selenium tend to be more anxious and depressed. Other selenium-rich foods are tuna, swordfish, oysters, and sunflower seeds.

2 Caffeine can alter your mood. Experts say having a cup or two of coffee a day may indeed help ease mild depression, however too much caffeine can make you anxious.

3 Chicken - Low levels of vitamin B6 can encourage depression. Vitamin B6 is vital for the body to make serotonin, a neurotransmitter. The RDA for vitamin B6 is 1.3 mg for both genders up to age 50; after age 50 the amount increases to 1.7 mg. There is 0.5 mg of vitamin B6 in 3 ounces of chicken.

4 Spinach - Research states that a folic acid deficiency gives reason for depression. Scientists suspect a link between this B vitamin and the brain after discovering people diagnosed with depression have lower levels of folic acid than the general population. It seems that folic acid deficiency causes serotonin levels to drop, resulting in depression. You need about 200 mcg daily to meet your folic acid needs. That is about 3/4 cup of cooked spinach.

5 Omega-3 Fatty Acids-Are you aware the brain is one of the richest sources of fatty acids in the body. Some scientific study found depressed people have lower levels of omega-3 fatty acids.
