" The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin." Mark Twain

The first known system of taxation was in ancient Egypt around 3000 BC- 2800 BC in the first dynasty of the old kingdom. Records from that time document that the Pharaoh would conduct a biennial tour of the kingdom, collecting tax revenues from the people.

So what's all this talk about the evolution of man? Our means of collecting taxes may have been made more sophisticated through the years however the penalty for falling to pay taxes is perhaps more severe today than back in the days of Lords, Kings and Emperors.

In a land known as the land of the free, just fail to pay your taxes one year and you'll see just how free you are. If you are wealthy you are rewarded with tax cuts and exemptions from all sorts of penalties that the common worker must face, all you need is a high polished lawyer who knows the law inside and out and knows how to find the loopholes, as to where you will end up paying less taxes than your chauffeur pays.

We are under new leadership in the white house our president is trying to bring about change. The ordinary citizens must also get involved in world affairs. We are after all a government of the people for the people and by the people.

As a united people, we can solve our problems rather than complain about them. Yes, I understand we have elected officials we have chosen to do the job necessary in dealing with our domestic policies and foreign affairs. The people are either too indifferent or busy to take on the policies of governing. However we must see to it that the politicians we have chosen to lead us do just that lead in a responsible manner.

Under the economic plan proposed by Obama, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less the vast majority of American taxpayers would receive a tax cut.

I know many of the rich have worked hard for what they have, nonetheless they must contribute their fair share to help those who barely make ends meet.

In the words of Vice President Joe Biden, "the rich paying taxes is a patriotic act" Let's face it we cannot all be rich those whom have made their millions must share a portion of their wealth with the poor and middle class by paying their fair share of taxes.

Does this sound like socialism? We'll perhaps a little but it is necessary, our way of life under capitalism (as it is today) just cannot work anymore. I'm not saying take away all of our rights under the constitution what I'm saying is face reality (life as it is) and make the changes necessary to unite us as a people.

Christians who read the Bible would note that Jesus himself who preached of giving and sharing was what we call today "A Communist" there are no communist living today who live under true communism. One of Jesus' disciples "Mathew" was a tax collector before he decided to follow Christ.

Mark Chapter 12 (New International Version)

Paying Taxes to Caesar

Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn't we?"

But Jesus, knew their hypocrisy. "Why are you trying to trap me?" he asked. "Bring me a denarius and let me look at it." They brought the coin, and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?"

"Caesar's," they replied.

Then Jesus said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."

And they were amazed at him.

Hello David, great to read this article, what you say is true, and I have been avocating this concept as well, and I think Robert has been trying to point this out as well....I especially like the part where you say, and I quote "Does this sound like socialism? We'll perhaps a little but it is necessary, our way of life under capitalism (as it is today) just cannot work anymore. I'm not saying take away all of our rights under the constitution what I'm saying is face reality (life as it is) and make the changes necessary to unite us as a people". You are so right about this, it is fact that our constitution, and I will get creamed for say this, Is somewhat outdated. We need to review this from time to time, while keeping the constitutions integrity, we also need to change as the times change, but basic principles have to be intact. II read an article that some laws here in my great state of Arizona, are so outdated that it is pathetic. You can still find it on the records, that to ride a horse while iintoxicated is against the law. there are other such laws still on the books...Things need to be brought up the the here and now....Great article, and I enjoyed reading it as usual, chuck full of great information....Well done my friend, well done.....your fan and friend in pen.....Gary.....

Yes Gary, change is the law of life. One cannot be expected to wear the same coat they were as a child. for as we grow we need to change.
