I can't believe my eyes and my ears that the Srilankan Cricketers were attacked in Pakistan. I saw the news. The cricketers were running as quickly as they can to the helicopter for their lives when they evacuated Pakistan. That was a terrible scene. I was dumb founded. How can the cricketers are feeling so unsafe in a cricket loving country like Pakistan. There were lots of criticisms on Pakistan security system. The Pakistani cricketers also fear that nobody will play with them anymore. They are feeling shameful before the whole cricketing world. There is a website where top ten problems of Pakistan have been listed. The top one is Terrorism.

But I was thinking that it was not only Pakistan which is combating with Terror but the whole world is under terror attack. Think of our country India. Last year we suffered a lot because of terrorism. The worst was, attacks in Mumbai on 26/11. Even the Americans also are not exempted from terror attacks. We all know about 9/11 and how terrifying it was in American history.

When God created this world He saw everything was beautifully created. He gave free will to mankind, to make decisions freely like Him. But the humans misused its free will power, its authority.

Now everybody in the world thinks that we are not safe anymore. Anything can happen anytime. If it can happen to beloved cricketers then who are we, the general public.

Seriously, life has become so uncertain that we can not even predict of the next moment. Whats happening to the thinkers of this world today? Where are the Gandhis, the Lincolns, the Washingtons, the Nehrus, and the Mandelas? Can we not dream of a peaceful world anymore? Is this the end of this world? Is it coming soon? What should be our responsibilities in these kind of situations? The questions that come in peoples mind are unending.

As a Christian I have only one assurance today, that God is there for me and I would love if all of us join hands to pray for the whole world today.

hi tc,

i wish i could be an ambasador for peace.

my son is graduating the airforce next saturday, and may be headed for afghanistan, so the wars all over have a personal connection to me.

power, greed, and the love for money seem to be the biggest demons.

someone should be able to stop this mindset, and bring the people back their safety, and unalienable rights.

thanks for sharing your thoughts,

best regards,

An excellent article Chiradeep, horrible but good writing. Unfortunately, there are sinistr elements throughout the world which threaten civilization as we have known it. The U.S. is one of their main targets and sooner or later, they will succeed in bringing us down. We have our freedoms, so far, that will not allow us to treat anyone as being hostile until after the fact. That just won't buy the baby any shoes.

Horrible but good writing? How can it be both? Anyway, thanks for the comment. I feel pity on those terrorists who use terror for success or religious achievements.

Some would say that the Terrorists are trying to make a point of some kind, but I often think they are using terror for terror's sake. In other words, just to show that they can have power over other peoples emotions. I don't know if this makes them feel powerful and important or what, but they will have their day in the Judgment, then we'll see who will face the Terror.

Terrorism is a horrific thing. I don't understand how anyone could think that killing, scaring or harming innocent people is a heroic act. I wish I knew the answers to the questions you pose.

It is no way heroic...They have a fear of something, thats why they terrorise to control or occupy. Thanks Lorrie for the comment.

Hello Cheradeep. You said it all when you explained that God gave man free will and man has abused it. it all boils down to the sinful nature we are born with. I join hands with you in prayer!! God help us all! Excellent article.

Thanks Teresa! We should definitely pray together to bring these things down. We Christians are responsible for most of the things happening today. Because we don't plead before God. We are busy in ministry and church activities, we have no time to plead.

Hi Chiradeep,

The photos you included were very disturbing. Why attack criketers? It makes no sense to me.

As for terrorism in general, it's a sad world we live in where some people think that this is the answer. It's like a child with no restraint punching a playmate in the face for saying something she didn't like. Totally out of proportion to the perceived hurt.

I fully understand wanting to address hurts and grievances, but there are better ways than this. I wish there were an answer.

Dianne (P.S. thank you for joining my fan club. I am happy to have you as a memeber. dsl)

So sweet of you Dianne! Thanks for the comment. The photos are indeed so disturbing to me also. I don't understand the psyche of those people who terrorise. That is why theres no alternative than praying for them. Only God can do something. We just can't. We can just pray and care for people, love people. That's all. God bless you...

Chiradeep,

It is sad that we are dealing with a group of people who wish our demise.  I see only 3 possibilities:

1.  they kill us;
2.  we kill them; or,
3.  we accept their faith.

Talking has and will do no good:  their ideology is so far removed from that of the rest of the world that I see only the 1st two choices.   Choice #3 is no option because I have no intention of wearing a burka!

Thanks for sharing a great article.

Nancy,
get a life! I'm tired of this burka-talk among westerners. Who exactly told you what exactly islamic terrorists want? Rt. after 9/11 Bush said he knew exactly why the attack happened-"They hate our freedom." Plz remember that was a time when the FBI and CIA were still trying to figure out why the attack happened. So looks like the president had some inside information that the FBI and CIA didn't have.
Politicians spread propganda like that so that naive ppl (I wanted to use other words, but won't, becoz I want to maitain decency.) like you start thinking like you're doing rt. now. That in turn helped Bush generate public opininon for the Iraq war. Every claim that he made before the war has been proven false later, cheif among them being that Saddam Hussein had connections with the Al Qaida. Plz note, there's solid proof of every claim that I'm making. I'll email the links to you if you want.
Secondly, any religion is a vast vast concept, philosophy, world view. Just like you don't want the only thing people associate with the word 'American', to be the killing of 0.5 million innocent children in Iraq through its economic sanctions (again, there's solid proof, I'll mail you the links etc.), Muslims don't want the only thing you associate with the word Islam, to be a burka. Islam is much much greater than that. These inane oversimplifications will do nothing to the great religion, it would only show your ignorance.
Thirdly, the bikini is as laughable to Muslims, as the burka is to you. So let's not compare cultures.
And fourthly, I'm NOT a muslim. I'm the citizen of a country where Pakistan and Afganistan and Islamic terrorism are hated like anything. But just like Americans, I believe in "freedom", "equality" and "rights". Not just for Americans, but also for Muslims and everyone else in the rest of the world.

You fogot to mention these criketeers were attacked in Pakistan. Pakistan has for too long tried to have it both ways with terrorists and sadly, this is the result. The prime goal of terrorists is to strike fear in the hearts of the populace through murder and intimidation, and they will only be eradicated when the populace decides enough is enough and they refuse to be intimidated regardless of consequence. Well done, sir.

Reminds me of the terrible attack on the Olympic players many years ago. Times are certainly not improving when it comes to terrorist attacks--and now there are people in our government that believe we can TALK sense to these people??

I have my doubts.

Shalom,

I enjoyed your article. I cureently live in India myself and have been here now for over a year. I recently went to Sri Lanka (before this attack) and tried to go to a championship cricket game between India and Sri Lanka but the tickets were sold out. I did buy an official Sri Lankan cricket team shirt and I wear it from time to time here in Andreh Predesh. It's a great way to strike up a conversation with the locals lol.

I started a Yeshiva (Bible School) in Sri Lanka and I met with one of our Associates from the Island down in Chennai (South India) about a week ago. I had brought with me one of our Rabbis from this area and they had an interesting discussion about the attack on the players. One thought was that it was designed by the terrorists to drive a wedge between India and Sri Lanka playing on the situation with the Tamils here and the uprising of the LTTE (Tamil Tigers).

I really don't know myself, but it was formost on everyone's mind here. I was also here during the Mumbai attack and was at one of the Taj Mahal hotels just a few days before that took place. It was quite frightening for all of us here. My wife is Indian and she was pretty fearful of what was taking place.

This type of terror wont go away. I was raised in Israel and lived in the West Bank for many years, another place where terror reigns, and I can tell you from experience that the terrorists wont stop till they've killed any and everyone who disagrees with them. India is really getting a taste of this and it will continue to do so. There is a massive Muslim population here with many fundamentalists. That will have consequences.

Yes, peace will come, but not anytime soon.

Rabbi Stanley
