Rummy 500 is my second favorite card game ever, (after poker of course). And part of the reason I love it is because I win the majority of the time. So what are my tips to win?

1. Get Cards in your hand

This is directly opposite of what the majority of people do. Most people will try to get rid of all of their cards as fast as possible. What this leads is your opponent having to subtract points from their hand, but you not having that many points on your side.

On the other side if you try to get as many cards in your hand you will have many more opportunities to get points. And you might even be the person who can pick up anything your opponent discards and play it.

2. Put down half of your pairs

Most people will get 2 Qs in their hand and keep them there hoping that eventually they will draw the next Queen and be able to put them down.

I on the other hand like to discard 1. This way your opponent thinks you do not have the other and may discard another Queen. You would then be able to then pick them up and play them.

Even if your opponent doesn't put down a Queen it can still be important. The cards can pile up and when you finally do get a 3 rd Queen you could pick up the whole pile which not only allows you to play the Qs, but you get a bunch of other cards in your hand which can give you more points later.

3. Discard High Cards

If your opponent is in danger of going out you are going to want to start discarding your high point cards. This way if they go out first you will lose the least amount of points as possible.
