Would you like to double the space on your shelves or in your cabinets? There are a multitude of shelf organizers that can take the headache out of small storage spaces.

The least expensive way to double your space is with a wire mesh organizer. It is simply a small, lightweight plastic-coated wire shelf. It can sit over a stack of canned foods, packaged foods or even dishes and provide another space for similar products. In limited space, this little shelf is a real life saver. In a cabinet, it is very handy to place one of these shelves over your bowls and then stack saucers on the top. This way, there is no need to lift the bowls off every time someone wants a saucer, as is often the case in small spaces.

An organizer for your plastic and foil wraps is handy, too. A wire holder that can attach to a cabinet door holds all those bulky boxes that before took up so much drawer space or were just stacked in cabinets. We have to keep the boxes because they have the cutters, but we no longer must put up with boxes falling over and taking up unnecessary space. The wire holder has long slots for plastic wrap, wax paper and aluminum foil and smaller slots for sandwich and snack bags.

Another attractive way of organizing paper products is an under-shelf metal box with varying lengths. This metal organizer has a door to hide those not-so-attractive boxes, keeping them out of sight yet right at your fingertips.

Under-shelf baskets are wonderful for the laundry room or bathroom. The wire basket attaches to an existing shelf making use of the space beneath. It’s a nice way of storing towels which have a way of taking up a lot of space. If there is a shelf in the kitchen, it would be a good place to put dishtowels freeing up drawer space or even counter space.

Another thing that tends to eat space are pot lids. They’re not stackable so they tend to spread out and take over other space. A wall organizer for pot lids is a holder that attaches flatly to the wall and has little hooks that stand out and hold the lid in place, making your lids stackable and getting them out of drawers or cabinets which frees up space for other things.

The refrigerator can have increased capacity, as well. By using a sliding drawer that simply sits on the refrigerator shelf, items can be organized. Perhaps the sandwich condiments might be grouped together or lunch meats. Make-ahead snacks for the family may be stored in this drawer for easy access.

Plastic lids take up a lot of room, yet we can never find the one we need. With a plastic lid organizer that attaches to the inside of a cabinet door, the lid we need will always be visible and available for quick retrieval.

Organizing our shelves and cabinets can dramatically increase the space in our homes. Kitchens, bathrooms, garages and laundry rooms can be transformed just by using shelf organizers.
