If this line from an old song sounds familiar to you: "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all," you're not alone. A lot of people have what they consider bad luck, and maybe you do, too. But you can change that. Some people believe that so-called "lucky charms" can change your bad luck to good luck. Let's talk about that for a minute.

Talismans, lucky charms, good luck pieces, etc., etc., have been around with us for centuries. Many different cultures and religions throughout the centuries have had them. And in fact, they really do work, if you think about it. How is that so?

If you have a lucky charm, you probably already think that you are protected from bad luck. This, in turn, changes your mindset so that you are no longer expecting bad luck. And in fact, while "good luck" seems random, in fact we probably cause most of both the "good luck" and "bad luck" we have, even though we don't mean to. And if we create our bad luck, then we can consciously create our good luck, too. A good luck charm can help us do this by giving us a positive mindset that will then help us change our actions.

What can you do to begin to see yourself as having good luck, and therefore generate more good luck?

One of the biggest things you can do is that you recognize good luck when you see it. A lot of us who see ourselves as unlucky simply pass good luck off as mere coincidence, while we see "bad luck" as our cross to bear. So change your mindset for a minute. The next time you have something good happen to you, don't pass it off as mere coincidence. Entertain the possibility, just for a minute, that that could have been "good luck."

Try this. For just one week, entertain the notion that you are someone who attracts good luck. Even if it feels like pretense at first, that's okay. Every time something good happens to you, stop and notice it for a minute. Just for a minute. That's all it's going to take to begin to change how your mind and your perception works. Do this EVERY single time something good happens to you, whether you think its luck or not.

Now, of course, during this time you are going to be noticing so-called "bad luck" things happening to you, too. However, this time, change your mindset and pass THOSE off as a simple and temporary coincidence, not your "luck."

As you become more and more tuned in to your good luck, you're going to see it much more often. This will do two things. It'll help you feel better, for one thing. When you notice that you're lucky, you are just naturally more optimistic and happy. Another thing that it will do is that you'll start being grateful for what you have. You see, people who think they're unlucky are pretty unhappy people, too, because they don't appreciate even those things they have -- and almost everyone absolutely HAS something to be grateful for, no matter how small. Once you start to be grateful for those things you have, you begin to see more things to be grateful for. It's a natural process, and it's very, very real.

You can create "good luck"

Once you begin to notice good luck, you actually begin to create good luck just because you're within a certain frame of mind. That frame of mind gives you the ability to take advantage of things you might not otherwise even have noticed. For example, you're going to become more open and friendly to people, instead of thinking they're always out to get you.

Now, of course, you still have to be careful, but you're going to notice that you'll begin to meet truly nice, open, helpful people. And let's say that you have a job you're not happy with and that you want to do something else. I'll just bet you that within a short period of time of your realization that you have "good luck," you'll meet someone who can help you get that better job. That's not necessarily because that person didn't exist before, but you didn't notice them because you were too focused on your bad luck. And now because you notice them, you can take advantage of the opportunity to get a better job. See how it works?

So go ahead, start focusing on your "good luck" instead of your "bad luck." Do it just for a week and see what how things change. And if you need a little help, a good luck charm can certainly help you. Check out www.NewLuckyCharms.com to take a look at some of ours.
