Something tells me you`re here because you are concerned over the size of your vagina. Are you feeling despondent because you believe you`re vagina is too big, or maybe you`re suffering pain and discomfort because it is too small? Either way you will be looking for a solution that can help you tighten the looseness or lightly stretch one of tightness.
Does size really matter, well this depends on the individual and to their reason why they are worried over this issue. Having a loose vagina or tight one poses no real threat to one`s health, however mentally it can. Both concerns (loose or tight vagina) have more women address the matter only because each condition prevents them or their partner from having satisfactory sex. If sex were not brought into the equation then neither would the matter of a big or small vagina get a mention as often?
How can a woman tell if her vagina is of what is deemed the natural size? The vaginal wall is stretchy so calculation of precise size would be difficult. If a woman`s vaginal walls are relaxed they collapse into each other. As a rule diameter of the vagina is less than 1" and the length usually approx 3 to 4 inches. When the vagina prepares itself for sexual intercourse it will change in size altering the diameter. The narrowest part of the vagina is at the opening but widens on the inside as you further in. Usually the façade of the vagina measures one and a half inches. The further you enter the vagina the bigger the size of the diameter. The rear end is normally a diameter of 2 1/2. "The front vaginal wall measures in length 2" and the rear end 3" giving us in total an even number of 6 inches.
One common unavoidable cause why the vagina changes in size is duly reasoned by giving birth. Because of intense expansion during delivery and in some cases the vagina cannot evade being stretched. Once the vagina is stretched it will feel big and loose. It is not rare after childbirth has happened to experience vaginal looseness. The process of childbirth affects dimensions which results in damaged muscles and other supporting tissues of the vaginal walls. You are not to worry at this stage if you are pregnant. Although this is what can happen at the time of childbirth, it doesn`t mean it will happen to you. Kegel exercises are supposedly the best method for correction of a loose vagina.
Hearsay
You need to turn a deaf ear to nonsensical chit chat about how having sex will stretch the vagina. The vagina is designed to accept the penis "big or small" and therefore will widen to accommodate penetration, and after penis withdrawal the vagina will return to its normal size. If the vaginal 'barrel' is loose it can result in the following:
- Insufficient satisfaction while having sex.
- Allowing air to enter the vagina resulting in bouts of 'fanny farting' to happen.
- Lax muscles/ ligaments causing a prolapsed womb
Practice pelvic floor muscle exercises, these are most effective for helping to tighten a loose vagina. They are simple and easy to do. Before undertaking any type of exercise make sure it is safe to do so by having your GP check you out and the exercise you have in mind.
Step1: Tighten the muscles at the front part of your body (low) like as if you were stopping yourself from urinating and adopt this hold for 10 seconds then relax and repeat and keep up for 5 minutes. Do these 4 times a day. Some women are not comfortable with exercise and that`s their choice but if you really want to help yourself and keep muscles strong then pelvic floor muscle exercises are ideal for helping you to achieve this. Another option is to visit your gynecologist and ask about the possibility of a 'repair' operation being done. The purpose of this type of operation is to draw any weakened pelvic tissues together and firm. The outcome should be a tighter feeling.
About vaginal repair: Surgical therapy is called a perineorraphy. It rebuilds the muscles and tissues at the entrance of the vagina. It is frequently performed with other pelvic relaxation surgery such as rectocoele repair. The aim is to reduce the size of the vaginal opening. Unfortunately the downside to this method is it can at the same time cause further nerve damage to the muscles which lessens the sensation at the opening. For repair surgery you have to qualify that your needs for this to be done is one of good reason. Doctors do not routinely perform surgery because they think the opening of the vagina is too loose.
Other reasons why vaginal repair maybe needed are connected to obesity or menopausal changes? If vital organs like the uterus (womb,) bowel or bladder are not fully supported and begin to sag it can cause pressure or pushing through or against the wall of the vagina, which therefore can result in tribulations rising when urinating or conducting bowel movements. A vaginal repair operation would normally involve the vagina being cut so the repair process can begin. During this time excess tissue is removed and the muscles tightened. The vagina is then stitched up using dissolvable stitches.
How do women come to the conclusion that they have a small tight vagina? Assumptions come primarily due to pain or discomfort that might be suffered while having sex or inserting a sanitary tampon. Vaginal tightness can occur from health conditions. One of these is Vaginismus which causes the vaginal muscles to contract when intent on making genital contact. Vaginismus is vaginal tightness which comes about by involuntary contractions of the pelvic floor muscles. From this a restriction is put on the vaginal opening preventing it "from opening" making it difficult for penetration to take place.
Vaginismus is treatable and treatment is straight forward. There are no taking of drugs or surgery to undergo. Symptoms of vaginismus can include: burning, pain, penetration problems, or complete inability to have intercourse.
Some facts found below, however, how much truth in them I am not too sure about
It is said that stout/plump women or them that have well defined thighs that touch each other on the inside when they are standing, are much more likely to have a small tight vagina. Accordingly, women who are vastly overweight are likely to have the smallest vaginas because fat tissue may be soft, but are not stretchy like the vaginal wall tissue. So, when fat tissue extends not only to the circumference of the thighs, but also into the genitals, the vaginal canal cannot extend as greatly as in slender women.
This is no reason for you to rush out and fill your face with cream doughnuts to bang on the weight because you have a loose vagina. Talk to your GP about your worries over your vaginal tightness or looseness and let him decide on what is the best way treat your problem.
