It was on Wednesday morning, when I sat down to have my cup of coffee, and my brother in law had, called, his name is Herman, and we were just talking about the weather in Longmont Colorado, where he lived, and I was sitting in my dining room here at the my house, in Tucson Arizona. He asked if Christine was home, and I told him no, that she had gone to work a couple of hours ago, (she works in retail), and I told him that I had just sit down to have my 2 nd cup of coffee. Well, him and I were just talking about anything, and everything, when I heard the phone click, and I told him to hold on, because I was getting a incoming call, and he said okay, and I clicked over to answer the call, and it was Phyllis, my wife's boss at her work, and she was extremely upset.

She said "Gary, Christine and I had this big knock down, drag out fight at the store" she said, "And Christine hit me, and she hit me hard, and stormed out of the store". I asked Phyllis, "Why was she so angry, what made her that mad, and where did she go"? I was in a panic! She continued "I have no idea where she went, but Gary, I had to call the police, although I didn't want to, and they too, are looking for her, I have never seen her this way before, we have had our differences, but this got way out of hand, and my District Manager told me to call the police"! I went into panic mode, (my wife is Italian, and she does have that "Italian temper", but never to the point of hitting someone), so I told Phyllis to hold, and clicked over to Herman on the other line, I said "Herman, I have to go, your sister and her boss got into a argument, and Christine hit her, and stormed out of the store, I have to go and find her because Phyllis had called the police, and they too were looking for her"!! He said, "Go" and so I hung up from Herman, and clicked back over to Phyllis, and asked her, "What happened, what did you say to her, I have got my keys, and I am ready to go and look for her right now, we can talk when we get there because I had a feeling where Christine would be, (at my son's house) and would call her when I found her". She said "Okay, but be careful, she is really upset".

My heart was racing, and I was so scared, not for me, but for Christine. I had a really hard time believing that she would actually hit someone. I was about to get into my truck, and my cell phone rang, and I saw my wife's phone number and was really glad to see she was calling me, I quickly answered the phone, and it was my wife on the other end and she said, "April Fools honey, Phyllis and I gotcha"!!! Phyllis was rolling with laughter in the background, and there was just silence on the phoneChristine said, "Honey"? I started laughing, and then I was mad, and then I started laughing again they had finally got me. this was a payback for the time that I scared my wife when we lived in California, about the Earthquake gag I pulled, see that gag in my article California Earthquake Disaster (for Me That Is). . It took her several years to get me back, but get me back she did, and good! One thing about us guys, we think that we will always get the last laugh, I am not to sure on this one, and she got me pretty good. By the way, I did call my brother in law back, and told him what had happened, and he simply said, "I know", and started laughing! They were all in on it!! Not fair!!

If if weren't so close to April 1 when I am reading this, I would have fallen for it, but I saw through it right away. I loved the story though; your wife has a good sense of humour.
My neighbour is in the moving business and on April 01, one of his employees phoned his (the employee's) wife and said that he dropped a piano on his foot and had to go to emergency. His wife panicked and said she would be right there. This was not what the employee expected, so he went the drug store and bought some bandages, wrapped his foot in them and drove to the hospital emergency and sat in the waiting room. His wife came in, saw him there, and asked why he wasn't being attended to. He said it would take several hours, as they were busy. She is Irish and has a real temper. She went to the admitting window and started yelling at the clerk about not attending to her husband. The clerk, of course, had no idea what she was talking about and had her escorted out of the hospital. In the meantime, his parents found out about the accident and were also upset. When they all found out the truth they were even more upset. I don' know where he slept that night. Probably in the back of the moving van.

hahahahahhahahaha In back of the moving van?.....hahahahahahhaha this was a funny tale, and it would have been something I would have been capable of doing, and I can relate sooooooooooo well. Poor guy...just sitting there....getting all of this abuse from his wife....and parents....hahahahhaahhahha, bet you he thinks twice, (like I am doing) before he pulls a stunt like that again, although hilarious.hahahahahaha I am still laughing. Great comment David, and one of the funniest I have read.....A Piano??? hahahahahahaha Great read, I enjoyed reading that as much as I enjoyed writing the article...tell him it's okay, they will all laugh about it in a year....maybe next April.....hahahahahhaha Your friend and fan ..... I enjoyed your article Gary. I held the title for April Fool's for a while in our household but my husband got the last laugh last year. This April Fool's Day was unusually quiet.
