One of the the many misconceptions about petite sizes is that you have to be some tiny little thing to qualify. It is almost a conspiracy if you think about it, just ask anyone in the department stores and you will find they aren't purvey as to what clothing petite size actually represents or means. So, if the young lady at the clothing store doesn't know then who does?

I would not recommend Blair or Elisabeth for a young fashion-forward petite person unless you want to look like Sophia from the Golden Girls. The vital tips were helpful but minimal. A couple more things you can do is to keep your outfit simple yet flattering and bring the focus up perhaps with the details around the neckline, make-up or accessories. It really didn't help. I have seen the stores suggested, and I'm tired of OLD looking clothing. I'm a tweener. Between young and old...38 and I can't find anything that is interesting to wear. I'm 5' tall and have a big chest...clothing just isn't made for me, and if it is...this didn't help me find it. Respond to this comment

Banana Republic carries wonderful petite size clothes. I was so happy when I actually found great looking clothes that fit and flattered my frame! Respond to this comment

This article did help me. For years I did not think I was petite. I'm 5'3 1/2 but a size 16 so I would shop in the misses department. Nothing ever seem to really fit me. Now I know that petite is a height not a size. Respond to this comment
