According to the government, we are getting help so that we can put more money back into the economy and thus make the economy sound again.

I want to know how paying the electric bill is going to help the economy when we know that they will ask for a price hike because they did not make enough money this year.

Then will come the gas company, the post office and everyone else that figures the citizens have a money tree in their back yard.

BUY NOW! Get the money moving is supposed to be the answer. Buy what? Most people are way behind on payments, homes are going into foreclosures, the credit card companies are playing everyone for suckers by piling on the interest (as I remember with the governments help) and now we are supposed to go out and BUY!

We have enough problems putting macaroni and cheese on the table!

Instead of giving the banks and Wall Street all of the money, give it to John Doe average American. You know the one that actually does pay their 'fair share' of taxes!

Let us pay our bills off, all of the credit cards and stock up on groceries. Let us put money back in the hands of the businesses and reap a little of the reward for our good job.

We are not asking for a billion dollar severance or bonus pay either, just our fair share. I wonder just how many 'days' it would take for the economy to straighten out, if John Doe does it.

As I recall, it was big business that got us into this mess, including government bureaucrats, which passed bills at 2:00 in the morning. The same ones that give themselves pay raises at that time of the day too.

Maybe people on Social Security should have done that for the last few years so they would not have been denied a descent cost of living raise. Heck, they wouldn't mind taking a vote at that time of the day in order to be able to pay their prescription bills.

That reminds me, how are you people doing at creating a health plan so we can all fire the health insurance companies.

Oh, that is right, then they would have to get money from us (we are the taxpayers that foot the bill, you know) so they wouldn't have to sell their big buildings or turn the heat down three degrees in them.

Let's face it Washington , you are missing the boat here and at the rate, your going the American people just might have you set sail on the next boat out of here, or at least out of Washington . You seem to forget, we put you there and we can take you out of there.

I have a great idea, why not have all of the CEO's and top nuts that got raises and perks this last year that belong to companies that are supposedly going down the tubes, give the money back to the company until it is on its feet and in the black. Then prove that you can stay in the black for the next five years and by the way, no pay raises and perks at that time either. Every company that borrows money from US ( US meaning the taxpayers) has to stop all pay raises, bonuses and perks for a period of five years. Just to prove to us that you did a good job. Who the heck ever heard of getting a bonus for making a company fail! (Remember the taxpers that foot the bill? These guys aren't part of that, they get mega deductions and don't have to pay their 'fair share')

Oh, I have one more question. Remember when we heard that all of the US companies that took their business out of the US , were now going to have to pay the same tariff and taxes, to get their merchandise back into the country? How much money are we making off that deal? Is it enough to protect our borders? Or did the government forget to do that!

I have a good idea, maybe all of us that can meet the requirements should join the service, then we could be fed and clothed, the borders would be protected, we would all be in Iraq or Afghanistan and we wouldn't have to worry about minor things like food, heat, gas or the economy. Maybe then, some of the Americans that have greatly done their jobs over and above the call of duty could come home before they are mentally fatigued. I bet no one thought about bringing back the draft either. Heaven knows, it might cut back on gangs, get rid of some troublemakers ruin a few drug deals; give our military a boost and our service men and women a rest. What was I thinking, that would not make any sense at all; it is called 'common sense and we don't use that any more

Just the views of an average citizen, that is sick and tired of excuses and the 'do as I say, not as I do' attitude in Washington . Do not forget, our new favorite saying is, "YES WE CAN!"

Jan Hayner is offering one persons view on why the economy is the way it is and giving a few solutions to the problem. Just a little, food for thought, before the next batch of elections.
