I'm not sure what I was thinking about when I wrote this
poem and it is very childlike but in the area I live in there is so many
runaways. They go from house to house, street corner to street corner, and
shelter to shelter, but in talking to some of them an amazing number of them
wish they had never left home but now are afraid to call home because of what
their parents may say. This is about my desire for the end results for runaway
teens or tweens.
A Plea to Runaway
Teens and Tweens
Runaway, runaway, where are you going?
Don't you know street life can be so foreboding?
Are you a teen?
Or are you a tween?
Do you know the streets are cold, and lonely?
And when darkness sets in you may begin to think if only?
How will you feel when night falls on the streets?
And you are hungry and things in the dark start to creak?
The streets are oh so cold and lonely and many people prey,
On teens and tweens who have become runaways.
Did you tell your Mom and Dad good bye?
Or did you take a stance and refuse to look them in the eye.
Did you hug and kiss them when you took your stance?
Did you make a decision not to give them one last chance?
Or did you really believe and then decide,
Life would be better on the streets outside?
My plea to you today would be, to call Mom and Dad and say,
I love you and miss you and no longer want to be a runaway.
If you do I would hope and pray that they would welcome you
home,
With open arms and a familys love that only they can make
known.
And if your effort comes to naught, or you have no one to
call,
And you want to make changes in your life above all.
Call on the Lord Jesus Christ and invite Him into your
heart,
Let Him know you want to make a fresh start.
Contact the nearest shelter, mission or church because to
the Lord you have great worth,
And if you are open to serving Him he will lead you while
youre here on earth.
