A child suffering with scalp eczema or seborrhoeic dermatitis may constantly feel itchy and have their  low self-esteem. There may be symptoms such as dry skin, crusts as well as red bumps. Kids that have  problems with asthma, respiratory issues or reactions to environmental triggers may find themselves susceptible to this skin condition.

Which your child's food intake to see if there are reactions to specific foods. Many allergists report found that eggs, dairy and wheat can result in allergic reactions such as intestinal and skin eruptions. If you child is very young, see what some of the hands-on activities are at pre-school to find out if some of the substances may be too harsh for his sensitive skin.

Because the area under hair has sebaceous glands that secrete oil, this can be a bed for both scalp eczema as well as fungal problems when one sweats. Does your child wear a baseball cap constantly? Have him take it off to let his scalp breathe. When it is covered he may be perspiring more than is necessary. Also wash or replace the hats or caps frequently.

The help your child with scalp eczema and the accompanying itching, scales, crusts inflammation and red skin eruptions, use products that contain zinc, coconut or yukka. Try to sneak in some green leafy vegetables to help your child get some nutrients to heal the skin. Some experts say that hormonal issues contribute to scalp eczema. Other ideas include fungal growth. It isn't always easy to get kids to take supplements like omega 3 oils , so instead give treats to your child that he'll eat such as tunafish, olive oil and winter squash. Kids love a soup made with winter squash and apples and this is helpful for healing skin.

Try to help your child avoid scratching his scalp as this could lead to impetigo or a different bacterial problem. Make a game out of things and tell him to take the palm of his hand and just do a little massage to the area whenever it's itchy. Hydrocortisone can be used for itching, but it won't ultimately reach the root of the problem. Be sure to give your child extra time and lots of praise and laughter during this period. They mirror adults so if they see you are calm, your child will remain secure.
