This advice has been sourced from cdc.gov, the center for disease control and prevention.

We are all on alert again after news of another dangerous flu outbreak.

Various articles are circulating on the web about how to prevent it (Omega 3 oils were mentioned re supporting the immune system) and how to treat it, or not treat it as the case may be. I've read some very conflicting information.

I tried to find a valid source of information and believe this government source to be that.

The information I derived from the site is shown below as 'quoted' text. For the full text please follow the link above.

What are the symptoms of swine flu in children?

"In children emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

  • Fast breathing or trouble breathing
  • Bluish skin color
  • Not drinking enough fluids
  • Not waking up or not interacting
  • Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
  • Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
  • Fever with a rash"
Please refer to the site for full list of danger signs for adults also.

For details on the following (as I dislike copying text) please visit the main site.

How serious is swine flu ?
Can I get swine influenza from eating or preparing pork?

I can't endorse or validate any of this information but thought you should have access to the information to make your own informed decisions.

Great article, Leah. The media is trying so hard to generate panic that a lot of dis-information is treated as fact. This piece will help a lot.
