"The shepherd drives the wolf from the sheep's throat, for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act, as the destroyer of liberty. Plainly the sheep and the wolf are not agreed upon a definition of the word liberty; and precisely the same difference prevails today among human creatures." Abraham Lincoln
Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest, although a law that applies to animals seems to fit into our way of life quite well.
In the business world the wolf (or leopard) is within striking distance of the sheep, the shepherd has his hands full trying to protect the sheep from the wolf's fangs. However, the wolf and the shepherd are only doing their job trying to survive in the rat race.
Yes, it seems as though we define freedom as following our natural instincts. Sometimes living beyond the law of the jungle to a more humane way of life is a characteristic we as human beings all possess.
Trying to apply this God given trait within all of us as human beings to the outside world can be a difficult task. However living as civilized people rather than arrogant, self-centered individuals who think only of themselves can be rewarding to us in today's world.
We often hear scandals in the business world where businessmen and women are captured stealing from investors who invest in stocks.
So much for the law of the jungle we have moved on from that time in history. Today in the 21' st century, we have evolved from the beast to a more refined individual. Although some of the young try to use and live by the old theory of the law of the jungle it just isn't there anymore. The young were born in a different time i.e. even animals have felt the difference in the atmosphere. The jungle environment just does not exist here anymore.
We must heed to our new calling for I believe God want's us to begin living the life he intended for us. Yes when we first began our journey here on earth, we needed to be aggressive to put up with the law of the jungle. However, in today's world we are more civilized and should begin living our lives more graciously.
