A driveway alarm will not stop all would be car thieves if they are dead set on taking your car or truck from in front of your home. Auto thieves are getting bolder and more proficient at taking any vehicle they want these days and every available security deterrent should be used to prevent this from happening to you and your family members.

Driveway alarm system sophistication varies greatly depending on how much you are willing to invest in this added layer of home security protection. Prices range from as low as thirteen dollars upwards to one thousand dollars. Minimal systems merely provide an audible electronic signal (much like a doorbell sound) when something or someone passes by the motion detector installed outside to contacting you via & ; your wireless cell phone or home phone, activating exterior lights, enabling an emergency rotating light (like what a police car or fire truck has installed on it emitting an amber, blue, or red light) warning the intruder they have been noticed.

You can also choose systems that contain either a motion sensor that let's you know of any movement whether it's a car, person or animal or you opt for a magnetic sensor that will only prompt you if a car, truck, or motorcycle moves on your driveway. I would prefer a motion sensor device to inform me of any traffic in my driveway.

Car theft is a multi-billion dollar industry and it's not about to stop in our life time Local law enforcement can only react to you or your neighbor calling them - The chance event of a police cruiser driving by your home while a auto theft is occurring is almost zero.

I would prefer to have to have a driveway alarm that has multiple functions that will let the myself and the would be thief know in seconds that their presence is know and unwanted and would give myself or a family member a heads up to call 911 while this bad act is happening.

There are many added benefits of installing a good driveway alarms some of them are prevention of home invasions, and everyday home burglaries from even taking place, visible security for when you or family member drives up to your home in the dark and the motion sensors can activate lights so you can see if anyone is waiting to car jack you as you get out of your vehicle when parking. Get the jump on delivery persons knowing when the FedEx driver, or the Pizza Hut delivery person has arrived to bring your dinner.

This technology is now being integrated in commercial home alarm systems as an optional feature - Companies like ADT and Honeywell offer these advanced options to add driveway alarm systems adding that extra layer of needed protection and peace of mind for your family.
