Symbols of serenity vary in different cultures and religions. Different symbols communicate a different message or meaning, and these meanings vary depending on the individual meaning ascribed to them by the people of a certain culture. The symbols can arouse a particular sentiment in those individuals who identify a certain meaning associated with them. Thus, symbols of serenity, which are intended to arouse feelings of tranquility and peace, can be found in several different cultures and religions.

Symbols of serenity can be said to trigger and stimulate feelings peace and harmony. These symbols can be represented through both physical forms and verbal expressions. “Om" is supposed to be the sound of creation and stands for universal unity. It is also the symbol of inner harmony. The tarot Aurabora is the symbol of peace and purity of mind. For Christians, doves of peace, Angels, and the Serenity prayer all represent inner peace and bliss.

Additionally, it has been scientifically proven that certain colors evoke particular responses. Red, for example, is the fiery color of vigor and passion. It is a color that captures attention quickly. In fact, red is used as a sign of danger on traffic signals because of these particular attributes. Blue, in sharp contrast, is the color of peace and tranquility. Feng sui and Vastu sastra recommend this as a color that brings mental peace. Since the human mind is sensitive to these symbols, sounds, and colors, surrounding oneself with the various symbols of peace brings us closer to that state of mind.
