There are literally millions of fantastic reality TV show or documentary film ideas out there today. The odds are also great, that tomorrow a million more really good ideas will surface. I know, because I can personally account for having thought of many of todays great ideas. I also have a great deal of faith that, I myself will again contribute many more to tomorrows round. But at the risk of sounding very clich Ideas are in fact, very cheap. Understanding this basic principal is one of the most fundamental things you will need to learn before you dive into the amazing world of reality television or documentary film production.

Think of your idea as a seed from a beautiful flower. You know what it can grow into. You've seen others do it with your very own eyes, but you also know that its going to take a great deal of time, attention, and resources (water, soil, sun, fertilizer, etc). Its going to take a great deal of patience and nurturing and care, passion, commitment and flexibility on your part, in order to make that seed sprout and blossom into a beautiful flower. Your reality TV show or documentary film idea is no different. If its a good idea, and come on now, you know your idea is very good, then keep reading and you'll learn the proper steps to take and the exact procedure to follow in order to develop your idea into your own reality TV show or documentary film .

Now, that you've learned that most original television and film ideas are really not that original at all, you'll be happy to learn this, the twist or spin you put on your story, is what will make or break your original reality TV show or documentary film project and the most original thing you can actually bring to the table. If you started reading this article, thinking that you truly have an original idea for a reality TV show or documentary film and I've offended you in any way, well then, you are well on your way to developing yet another critical skill you are going to need to navigate around this mine field of an industry, a thick skin! The faster you develop it, the closer you will come to actually getting your program made. Or as I like to look at it, you are one No closer to the one and only Yes need to get the program going, the first one.
