Saw mills are machines where logs are processed and cut into smaller boards. Its basic operation starts when the log enters in one end before it goes to the other as a high quality board or dimensional lumber. This process is not possible without other important steps. Before they go into the machines, the logs are taken by a truck to the saw mill. They are weighed then decked to sort the logs by size and end use. All irregular edges are removed from the four corners of the log. It is then dried to remove moisture. Look into the different machines used in saw mills.
Band saw
This is one of the types of saw mills that make use of a blade with a band of metal. Teeth are found along the edges of the band saw. The equipment is powered by water, steam, wind, electrical motor or even animal power. The process known as band sawing ensues that uniform cutting is done on the work piece. This machine is often used in wood and metalworking. It is helpful in cutting irregular shapes.
Circular saw
This machine consists of a metal disc with a saw teeth found on its edge. As the disk spins, wood as well as other materials can be cut easily. This machine may be held by the hand or mounted on the table. Aside from wood, it may help in cutting plastic, metals and masonry. Some forms of circular saw are designed depending on the material that needs to be cut. Traditionally, it was powered by the use of water but now electricity is being used.
Portable sawmill
These saw mills started to exist during the 1970s. They were made in response to the energy crisis that struck the United States in 1973. These mills can be set up on different sites where the trees are usually cut. It cuts wood or logs with higher speeds of accuracy.
