The greatest need we have as humans is the need to be heard and the biggest crime we commit as humans is not taking the time to listen;
I just want someone to listen
I just want to share the
heartaches of my soul and not be
judged for the sins of my past
I just want someone to listen
with all that they are
to be completely with me
for one moment in time
a single moment I can claim as mine
when I reach towards you
will you step backwards
afraid I will become a mirror of
your own doubts
will you step side ways
to avoid making a commitment
to listen to hear my words
and reflect them back to me
or will you step forward
and allow me to trust
embrace the truth of my pain
knowing should I stumble
I will not be alone?
I do not ask you to own
my thoughts and words
I do not ask you to give
me answers to my questions
I ask only that you listen
to listen unconditionally
I need to know you care
enough to hear only the
sounds of my fears and feelings
without the noise of the outside world
I just want someone to listen
to put aside their feelings
for a moment
to indulge me mine
I just want someone to
be there in my moment of truth
when I look in the mirror
of my soul and the essence
of who I am is reflected
back to me
I will know I am not alone
I need the presence of a compassionate soul
who will validate
my worth by just being there
by just listening totally with
all that they are
I do not ask that you pity me
for then I shall see
your vanity for what it is
I do not ask that you find the answers I seek
for then I shall know
you have not found your own
I don't ask for your strength
as I will only find my own
if I can stand unaided in the
truth of who I am
I just want some one to listen
I have talked to many
but they have had their own agenda's
and not heard my words
for what they are
I just need someone to listen
and I need to know they are
listening hearing
with every part of their being
I just want someone to listen
lest there be only
the sound of my own voice
reaching
up to the stars above
and when you listen
I am given permission
to love myself
to embrace my pain
to look inside
and when you listen
you give me the greatest gift
you give yourself

You've managed to put into words what I believe everyone needs and wants. That is someone to truly listen, without judging and without offering answers. I would guess you are a good listener Robin?

I would like to proclaim my guru status and say yes but at times I admit I can be stubborn pigheaded and deaf but life is a learning curve
