Watch the sun go down,
Watch the tears fall,
Watch the empty space,
Where we had it all...

Watch the sun rise,
Watch the clear blue skies,
Watch the empty space,
The shadow of a smiling face...

Watch the family grow,
Through the years that go,
Watch the empty space,
that can't be replaced...

We watch, but fail to notice,
the clock ticking
as hard as rock,

unwilling to do a favour or two,
it beats its wing, keeping on task
while we dither our lives away,
Watching, waiting for a better day.

And all the time,
that empty space,
lies patiently to be filled
with joy once more.

So much is lost in that empty space called time, when it's taken for granted, wasted with unfulfilled dreams, longing and disappointment, regret. Yet we continue on taking for granted our most valuable resource. The empty space grows wider day by day.

Beautifully insightful. I love poetry. Such meaning, longing, loving, missing, wishing---it's all there.

Thanks for sharing, Elfreda.
