As I begin my adventure into bookmarking sites and create a relationship between myself and the newest tools of the Internet I find myself drowning in opportunity. It reminds me of my lack of ability to swim!
So, being analytical, I decided to dissect this problem. Have you ever noticed when you have lists and lists of things to do, promote your business, take care of the family, keep up the finances and so much more, you actually tire yourself out just thinking about it? I just can't seem to focus or allocate my time to accomplish anything!
I started to visualize a large pool, water everywhere and realized that a pool of water is something that cannot be separated into parts, similar to time passing us by. With the pool we can jump in, swim, but not separate this molecule of water from that one, understand what water is to our left and what is to our right, above us or below. That is time - going by faster and faster with all of us grabbing at it to keep it from moving.
Very philosophical - why do I present this picture? I want to utilize my time in a productive, effective manner. I want to take that pool of water and separate the water into buckets of opportunity. Tackle each bucket one at a time making the most of it. If I look at 10 buckets at once, I might as well just look at the water in the pool. If i look at one bucket, work with one bucket until the opportunity it presents is well understood, developed, implemented, documented, who knows. What I do know is that I can create great results, one bucket of water at a time.
So, next time you are looking at lists and lists of items to do, inspired ideas to build your entrepreneurship, family requirements that never seem to end; just think of the pool of water and fill one bucket at a time, get it working before you move on to the next. It's a small step, but its one foot in front of the other and before you know it, you have marched many miles toward your vision.
