Women's Hosiery has been an integral part of ladies attire for centuries and the choice says a great deal about the wearer. Silk stockings were imported from Italy and were considered very grand and were a much sort after item of clothing. Today things have moved on but good women's hosiery still has a much valued place in the wardrobe dept. All tights and are not just a fashion accessory many forms are purely for practical functions. Thicker tights or stockings are warm as well as stylish and look great with winter skirts and boots.

The specialist support hosiery give real relief to those who suffer from varicose veins and other circulatory problems and should only be worn under medical supervision. In the 1960's with the advent of the mini skirt the wearing of stockings and suspenders became a little impractical and due to the technology of the day the panty hose were brought onto the eager market. For many years the all in one tights mostly took over from stockings and suspender belts and many sold as one size fits all actually fitted almost no one!

The addition of Lycra in later times has somewhat cured the problem as the extra elasticity makes the fabric return and cling to the skin where it is supposed to after stretching. In recent years there has been a resurgent's in the popularity of stockings as they feel and look more sexy and appealing. However if it is the fun sexy look you are seeking there are sexy tights on the market with various parts of the panty part left out to reveal a tantalising bear bottom or if you or your partner prefer there are also many crutch less varieties readily available. What ever your preferences you will need to choose the right one for your outfits and here are just a few tips when matching your leg wear to the rest of you ensemble.

Your hosiery needs to relate to the core colour of the clothing and if you are wearing bright colours on your body match your leg wear to your shoes. If you favour loud patterned tights make sure that your cloths are fairly pattern free and do consider that a sheen finish on your legs will make them look bigger than they really are so if you do not want to draw attention to your calves try a matt finish, and should you have a liking for shoes of mixed colours team up the stockings to match the darker shade. You can pay quite a lot of money for your hosiery so you will want to make them last as long as possible by taking care of them. If you elect to machine wash always use the delicates setting, alternatively wash by hand and never spin or tumble dry, drip dry, they won't take long.

You may also find checking finger and toe nails for sharp edges can avoid those very annoying snags. Keep a good stock of hosiery to suit all your clothes and there is no reason why they will not last you especially if you buy good quality, like everything else you get what you pay for! With all the wonderful web sites available today you will have no trouble getting top quality items of any style you desire, whether you are looking for every day wear or something sexy for that romantic evening you will be well catered for in the leg department.
