PC Careers: IT Technicians Make a Difference in the Field

Were you ever curious about how your PC was fixed remotely? Or curious about the person that came from the PC company to pickt up your computer for repair? IT Technicians are the foundation that fuels the IT field because all gurus must begin with a solid PC knowledge, applications, and the ability to practice systematic methods in fixing your computer system.

If you're interested in becoming one of the best PC techs in the neighborhood, consider the path you'd like to take. You can choose between the IT Technician (CompTIA A+ Essentials and Exam 220-602) position that requires knowledge of hardware, software, and professionalism. Remote PC Technicians (CompTIA A+ Essentials and Exam 220-603) who manages troubleshooting of your Windows or Linux operating system. For the hardware lovers, they have positions as a Depot Tech (CompTIA A+ Essentials and Exam 220-604) where you have to use your knowledge of hardware to make it through the day.

Education

Certifications and experience can replace the initial education requirements for many small and mid-sized businesses. The certifications are given in three different angles IT Technician, Remote Technician, and Depot Technician sectors. Each sector requires the basic certification in A+ Essentials which tests the cognition of hardware, software, networking, and professionalism. The specialist tests depend on your personal preference whether it's working with people, troubleshooting software, or fixing of computer systems.

This level of education suggests at least nine months of consistent PC work in the field. By acquiring this minimum level of experience, you have a grasp the concepts and troubleshooting methods in IT work. Many people opt to follow the IT Technician road because it's balanced, broad, and offers many opportunities in different industries including banking, technology, and retail. If you want to test the waters in many different fields, the IT Technician is the best test to excel.

Employment Opportunities

As mentioned before, the employment opportunities available for IT Technicians is limitless. Every business is in need of an IT professional to maintain the infrastructure of their business' technology. Consider the opportunities available in your current industry. Salary and Potential Earnings

IT Technicians start at entry level wages at approximately $11.00 an hour or $25,000 a year. With our increased dependency on technology, you can bet that you will have a position available somewhere in any industry. Some professionals do not start out as full-time IT Technicians because of their commitments to other jobs. So, you can work on your certifications while gaining extra money through experimentation on family, friends, and colleague computer systems.
