Is it really the in-thing to do to have teen sex, you bet it is looking at the statistics of unwanted pregnancies and the high number of people who as we speak queue up in a GUM clinic to be treated for a sexually transmitted disease? I myself am in strong support of youngsters keeping up with the latest trend or following suit of their friends, but when it comes to teen sex I have my reservations. The gymslip teen mom and teen dad of which we have many through having unprotected teen sex have deprived themselves of a childhood.(not all.)
Protection has to be your number one priority if you're going to have teen sex to keep safe. I am not suggesting that you go out and have nookie, I am pointing out the potential dangers to the vast majority of teens who choose to ignore good advice and go and do it anyway. The "stubborn" teenager should take extra care and precautions. This one's for the cocky teenager who thinks he/she knows it all, did you know stubbornness won't stop a pregnancy and neither prevents a STi (sexually transmitted infection.)
Below are some awareness tips and advice on teen sex. I would like to emphasise at this point my intention is not to encourage teen sex, underage sex or whatever other type of sex there is that is not legal in the eye of the law.
Whatever your age you need to be prepared before teen sex happens. Without preparation the whole escapade can go belly up resulting in disastrous consequences. Believe it or not even grownups make mistakes in the bedroom and you could well be the result of one. This remark is not meant to offend but to put you in the picture of the meaning of "belly up." You need to consider the consequences which can result from having underage sex, because aside from putting your health at risk, it is also a criminal offence. If a minor is involved and depending on circumstance a prison sentence could be the outcome.
Not wanting to rain on your parade children, but teen sex is not the in thing to do; in fact you'll gain more respect for keeping your legs closed. Okay you may be mocked by others for keeping hold of your virginity but it sure beats pushing an unwanted baby in pram, or sitting twiddling your thumbs waiting for test results in an STD clinic to see if you're infected with a venereal disease,.
Statistics claim that 1 million teens in the United States fall pregnant. The staggering figure of 175,000 young girls gives birth to their first child. This is a huge number which proves that most teen mums never get to finish high school, and less likely to marry. Study came back with, that children born to teen mom and dads have poor health and their cognitive development is slower. A scary issue you need to be aware of is the death rate is quite high for young girls having babies aged 15 or under. Pregnancy complications are more likely around this age group. Other difficulties include premature babies being born and prolonged labour. Observance showed that in the first 3 months which are the most critical in "any" pregnancy seven out of ten pregnant teenagers don't go to their doctor.
Babies born with low birth weight to young moms who delivered prematurely can suffer from undersized organs (brain, lungs, and heart). The infant will find it difficult to maintain body temperature and blood sugar levels along with the possibility of developing mental problems. If you are already pregnant then you need to heed good advice and abide by any suggestions made by your GP to keep you and your baby healthy.
Unprotected teen sex can result in catching an STD (Gonorrhoea also known as the clap.) This specific sexually transmitted disease is rampant. It is reasoned by a bacterium called Neisseria. Both man and woman are vulnerable.
The symptoms of genital gonorrhoea differ in both genders.
The cervix is chiefly affected in females diagnosed with gonorrhoea, and if treatment is not sought after the disease can spread to the uterus and fallopian tubes.
Symptoms to look out for:
For both man and woman suffering from gonorrhoea it is not uncommon to see no symptoms. But should they show then the above symptoms is what is normally expected. As like with the symptoms below for men
-
Discharge (yellow pus) from the penis
-
stinging when passing water
-
constant weeing
-
bloody urine
-
swollen glands in the groin
-
penis head turning red
If gonorrhoea affects the throat or rectum, symptoms such as pain, swelling, and discharge can happen. A course of antibiotics is normally prescribed for treating this particular genital infection. As we go up in stages concerning sexually transmitted infections treatments will differ, and change in medication is likely, like upping dosage or other for the more serious infections.
Syphilis another STD brought about by the bacterium (Treponema Pallidum) Syphilis is passed through direct contact with syphilis sore. Sores are commonly found on the outside of the vagina, anus, or in the rectum. They can also locate on or inside the mouth.
The first level of syphilis is a single sore (chancre) which can group. The time between infection and start of the first symptom can span from ten days up to three months. The chancre is firm round and painless. It appears at the site where syphilis made entry into the body. Chancres can remain unmoved for up to four to six weeks. If left without treatment then we have the next level where we see rash with mucous membrane lesions. The rash of secondary syphilis is usually rough reddish/brown spots on the palm of the hands and the bottom of the feet. You could also experience fever, swelling of the lymph glands, sore throat, headaches, weight loss, muscle pain, and fatigue.
The third level most frightening of all is the serious stage - damaging internal organs (Brain, nerves, eyes, heart, blood vessels, liver, bones and body joints.) Not leaving much else to affect when you look at what's left. So think on kids before you have teen sex because syphilis can happen. Late syphilis can hamper muscle movement causing severe problems like paralysis, numbness, slow blindness, and dementia. When the disease has reached this stage doctors are now looking to save your life. Yes that's right particular STDs can and do kill so slip on a condom.
I hope what you have read has made you think twice about having unprotected teen sex. Safe sex is the secret to a fulfilling relationship, that is if with the right partner. Practice safe sex to avoid unwanted pregnancies and deadly diseases. Remember the matter of underage sex and a prison sentence; well if you still have to ask mom or dad for pocket money then you're too young for sex. But if you think you know best, and you be that stubborn teen we spoke of earlier then at least do the sensible thing and spend your pocket money on a condom.
