During a recession many of us will not exceed the FDIC limits on their deposits but some will need extra income working from home. Meanwhile, you heard that you can make a decent living building an Internet business from scratch, but you do need an instruction manual to start it up.

Therefore, how do you build a profitable online business? It starts with faith and hope in a passion for success in your own business idea.

The words of Malcolm Forbes are a grand lesson in building a business. He says, 'The biggest mistake people make in life is not making a living at doing what they most enjoy.' Most of us follow the leader like sheep; on the other hand a business owner is quite different, they are leaders not followers, although, all leaders were first followers.

That is sound advice, because if you love what you do and are faced with a huge business challenge urging you to want to quit, you will meet adversity with stiff resistance.

If you build your business with passion, challenges will become a reason to overcome them and not surrender; they become a reason to work your business like failure is not an option.

Recession Proof Business

Then why do most online small businesses fail? It is because they do not recognize and act upon the profound difference between offline and online commerce. They do not know how to use the law of attraction in their business. This is the truth:

Offline - puts your business where people can crowd by to make sales. It is all about "location, location, location."

Online - the fundamental reality of how people use the Web is different. No one "passes by." They are searching for "information, information, information." If you provide in-demand information ("Content") about something you know everything flows...

What has trust, confidence & relationship building to do with your business and customers? The content you deliver must instill confidence as you an authority that builds trust. If your audience trusts you it is more likely they will buy from you. As you continue over deliver in-demand content you will drive devoted traffic allegiance.

Recession Proof Business (An AIG business ethics lesson)

Does your hosting service provide private forums, a help-and-be-helped resource? If they do not, you are getting shortchanged or you may need to change your hosting service. Many of the run of the mill hosting services offer the lure of cheap (even free!), quick, easy "business hosting."

Shortly, though, you realize you are spinning your wheels. You need to upgrade to their "Professional Platinum Package" ($49.95/month). You buy two key add-on modules (yes, in addition to the Platinum, and each @ $19.95/month). And you have to hire a Webmaster to help you coordinate all this, as well as customize one of the programs that "came free" with your hosting ($1500).

Recession Proof Business

Does your hosting service provide you with an action guide that mentors you? One of my main concerns in building an online business is getting the instructions and the action steps to get things done.

Do you have a web service that provides all the tools needed for online business success? Building a business takes real work, and there is nothing more frustrating than starting a project and not having all the needed tools to accomplish the task.

These are some the questions I had when I began building my first online business. It was not till I found that there was a method to the madness (my tutor told me). They said that the sooner you master the four online business essentials (CTPM), the sooner your business will begin to flower.
