Ideally, a 10 gallon tank should be excellent for your pet and offer enough leg room.

Aquarium sand or playground sand is easily available and cheap options. However it's important to sterilize the sand, you will also select calcium based sand which is sort of cheap. Fiber bedding might also serve your purpose.

" HUMIDITY is an imperative aspect when keeping hermit crabs as pets. These crabs respire with the aid gills so they need correct quantity of oxygen which is absolutely reliant on the humidity factor in the air. You can consider installing a hygrometer in the tank since a humidity of 70-80% is essential. However excess humidity might have negative results. The water dish can also help to maintain proper humidity inside the tank as the tank is an enclosed one. " HEATERS are critical to keep crabs at optimal temperature; hermit crabs prefer temperature of 72 to eighty F, i.e. 22-27 C. Undertank heaters, lights or both can simply serve your purpose. Treats like fresh fruits and veg, beef and fish can be used. They like new tastes so it may be a great idea to try a number of food items. You need to buy special food items at the pet store; you can simply feed your pet preservative-free human-grade food.

You can also consider a short lived cage in the parent tank. Leaving them alone can be the biggest help at that time.
