A contemporary mouse with the most common standard features has been Must-Have item for both desktop computer users and business travelers for years. However, even though there have been introduced numerous fancy-looking mouse devices available by cord/cordless in the market, what it has always needed was a flat surface to use, and also with mouse pad. This often makes people get stressed by looking for a certain flat surface to put their laptop with devices on at one place.

Based on this circumstance, a wired USB Optical Finger Mouse has been first introduced about a year ago. For those of you who are attempting to be more ergonomic, this device might be the one to solve the complaints of seeking a flat and hard surface to use it.

About 1/3rd or 1/4th in weight to the conventional optical mouse, it is best for using at home, at office, especially for mobile and flight traveler. This innovatively designed Optical Finger Mouse operates while strapped to your index finger and the button is operated with the thumb and it can work on any surface such as clothes, trousers etc. Quite sensitively, this finger mouse works brilliantly on your trouser leg. You can even type with it while it's still attached to your finger and shortens the operation between keyboarding and operating the mouse.

But is this really can be substituted for the general one? Take a look at some reviews and comments quoted from amazon.com and other cool gadget review sites to see what features people liked the most about this product.

PROS

1. It's pretty sturdy, and only takes a few hours to get used to use it. It feels like a pencil when you use it.

2. Price is reasonable. Looks like its price under $20 in most shopping sites is not exorbitant price at all.

3. Handy and inexpensive way to casually surf the net on an ultra-mobile PC or Net Books.

4. Forget about using Velcro, instead, hold in palm of hand and operate scroll wheel and clickers with thumb. I don't know why these aren't more popular for web surfing as using it is virtually effortless.

5. The finger mouse is perfect for notebook users who prefer a mouse over a touchpad, individuals low on desktop space or even people looking for something different from the norm!

It sounds cool, isn't it? However, there are some odds commented by people who used it for months.

CONS

1. It doesn't work on some surfaces, for example, it doesn't work on a certain type of jeans, polished fake wood office table, light plastic covered laptops whereas it works with on carpets, old polished wooden table, aluminum-alloy covered laptops.

2. You have to touch the surface when browsing.

3. When the battery of the mouse (wireless type) is low, the mouse pointer starts to jump' from left to right much faster than you move it.

4. It feels quiet heavy when you use it continuously for hours. Of course it is lighter than the normal optical mouse; however, you can't really type with it using the finger index. And it really slows you down when typing with the rest of the fingers.

5. When not in use for a few minutes, its laser light goes off. In order to wake it up, you must press one of the two click buttons. You can't wake it up by rolling the scroll up or down.

From all these pros and cons on this product, we can't really think of any situation that it would be useful, except when standing, e.g. in the train or during a presentation or flight. However, the fact is that it will let you keep the device attached to your finger as you type rather than moving your hand to grab and move the mouse around on a flat surface.

Only you know whether it will be the best for you or whether perhaps using it as an alternative one would be better for you. But still, it gets thumbs-up for the efforts.
