A lot of people would look at the title and decide If they don't like wrestling then they won't like this movie. Don't be shy about checking this out. It will appeal to other than just wrestling fans. This is mainly a life story with some wrestling thrown in. Randy The Ram, (Mickey Rourke) is the main character and wrestler. He is getting older, his big wrestling days have passed, and it is the time of his life that he needs to move on. Wrestling has been everything to him for so long that he doesn't know how to let go. There is nothing in the world like having the spotlight on you in the ring. Because this all consuming life is basically over, the lonely and dejected Randy is pushed on the road to rediscover himself..

He combats his loneliness by pulling those near him in closer. His love interest in played by Marisa Tomei. She is going through some similar issues as Randy. She has hit the age where most women have moved on from stripping and needs to let go of that life. You can relate to the way they come together and how their relationship grows. Evan Rachel Wood is Randy's daughter. He is now making up for lost time with her and fighting to have an actual relationship with her.

This fictional movie is about true life in all its many aspects and dimensions. It is emotional and expressive. The Ram is Mickey Rourke. You are so drawn into his performance that the ram becomes an actual person, not a part played by an actor.

And don't worry, because the story does lend itself to some fight scenes. Rourke wrestles with the owner of the trailer park where he lives and the owner of a local grocery store, which keeps the action flowing without going overboard.

The Wrestler has everything a good movie should. It keeps moving with lots of bustle. The tension keeps you riveted. You also enjoy the topics that touch us all such as hope, love, trust, and family. This movie is at the top with the level of acting and directing. Whether you are a fan of Action or Drama movies, this movie will appeal to you. Your feelings on Professional Wrestling shouldn't affect your decision to see this. It is a film that everyone can relate to.

Fans of wrestling will want to get The Wrestler DVD for the home collection. Fans of drama and fabulous acting will also want The Wrestler DVD to keep. It really has something for anyone who enjoys films.
