Dad doesn't need another shirt or tie.  Here's an easy father's day gift the kids can make at home!  These pocket-size kits will come in handy.

Father's Day Pocket-Size Kits

Tolls and Parking Kit

What you will need:

empty film canister or small resealable plastic container (from dollar store)

old map

scissors

coins (quarters, dimes, nickels)

glue

What to do:

1.  Cut a 1 ½-inch x 3-inch strip out of an old map.

2.  Wrap map strip around the canister and glue.

3.  Fill kit with mixed change: quarters, dimes, and nickels.  (Toll road kit can hold up to $6.50 in change.)

First-Aid Kit

What you will need:

empty film canister or small resealable plastic container (from dollar store)

red and white construction paper

scissors

antiseptic wipes

band-aids

gauze

red ribbon or yarn

trial-size pack Tylenol

glue

What to do:

1.  Cut out a 1 ½-inch x 3-inch strip of red construction paper.  Cut out a 1 ½-inch x 2-inch strip of white construction or typing paper.  Trace the cross pattern and carefully cut out of the white paper strip (this way the red paper will show through).

2.  Wrap red paper strip around the film canister and glue.  Wrap the white strip of paper over the red paper and glue in place.

3.  Tie a ribbon around a small amount of gauze and place in the canister along with small band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and trial-size Tylenol.

Office Kit

What you will need:

empty film canister or small resealable plastic container (from dollar store)

plastic-coated paperclips

rubber bands

thumbtacks

colorful paper

glue

What to do:

1.  Cut a 1 ½-inch x 3-inch strip of colorful paper out and decorate as you like.

2.  Wrap paper around the film canister and glue.

3.  Fill the canister with rubber bands, thumbtacks, paperclips, and anything else you can think of to help Dad at the office!

Thanks Rebecca. I guess a lot of us have lost a little common sense and imagination along the way. Thanks for bringing back what we use to have, a sense to do rather than just, "buy." Just buying does make us a little handicapped. Thanks again.
