Twitter is taking over the world! Is it time for you to join the revolution? Are you ready to be a...

Twitter loser?

I am going to give you an easy-to-follow five step program that guarantees you will be Twitter loser.

1. Sell, sell, sell. Forget about posting tweets with links or any kind of useful information. Only post tweets promoting your products or services. How will your followers know what you are selling otherwise?

2. Repeat the same message over and over. You know, through your years of marketing research, that it takes repeated exposure to your marketing message to get through. Therefore, by logical extension, you should repeat yourself many times. Now you're thinking like a businessman.

3. Follow as many people as you possibly can, from all different industries, and from anywhere. Obviously, you need millions of your own followers. Following others is the best way to get your own followers.

4. Forget about reading others' tweets. Who has time for all that reading? Other people will definitely read your posts to learn about what you are selling.

5. Avoid any kind of keyword research. Who has time? You know what you're doing.

In reality, this article is all one big joke. You don't want to be a Twitter loser. Do the opposite of most of the things listed above. You will be much better served to use your Twitter account to provide genuine information, rather than just sales messages. Do not repeat the same message over and over. It is very poor practice that will cause people to stop following you.

It is okay to follow many other Twitter users, but make sure you focus your efforts on those who have something to do with your industry; users who arepossible sources of business contacts and referrals. Use one of the many available Twitter tools that organize your follow list so that you can interact with those your find particularly interesting. Direct specific comments toward other users. Start conversations. Finally, to maximize the exposure your tweets receive, use specific keywords in your tweets, with those keywords based on research into how people are actually searching.

Jerry,

Social media as a networking tool is exploding in popularity. Great advice in this article. Many on Twitter, as I'm sure you know, abuse it and do become annoying and in the end, not followed.

Mark
