Well let's see, did you travel to the end of the Earth to feed your children when there was no food in the neighborhood.

Did you take time to burp them when the milk was done and the breast was aching because of the sucking to dawn.

Held the head up and kept the back straight when the baby was taking in the scenery. While you were barely standing from lack of sleep, and knowing you had to get ready for work in two hours.

What did you say? Gaga go ga while they were still in the crib and made those weird faces that would have put you in the looney bin. If someone saw you.

Tell me, did you smell the bm as the child smiled while you reached around to their back side and wipe their derriere.

Thought about pain and sorrow as the child stumbled to maintain their strength as they started to walk. Yet you gasping for air, ooh, ah's , for knowing that they would fall on their face if they weren't careful.

Took it to heart while watching them grow and not letting anyone touch them until they were ready to be held.

Yes that is right, all the above would consider you a father that cares, loves, and shares.

Never lifting a finger to be self-centered to give and love unconditionally is the father you call yourself to be.

Tribute to Fatherhood

Hi Lawrence,

I can tell from your poem that you are a wonderfully good father. You are blessed. It is a delight to read an article about fatherhood because a Dad is just as important in a child or children's formative years. I have very fond memories of my dad growing up. He used to take me to a movie (Chinese with English subtitle) and my smile is from ear to ear. I savored and enjoyed my quality time with him.

Well written piece Lawrence. Keep on writing and I will be reading them as it become published on Searchwarp.

Best of luck and best regards to you and yours.

Nenita

Lawrence,
I am away from my children temporarily until I find work a difficult situation for me.  Circumstance, such as looking for a job, made me realize how important they are to me.  "Did you travel to the end of the Earth to feed your children when there was no food in the neighborhood?"  The answer is...Yes, that is why i am away from my children right now.
Thank you.
A father away from home.

Dear Father Away From Home,

I applaud your commitment and sacrifice you have on the behalf of your children. I pray that the time will pass quickly and you will be back with them soon.

I had to do the same thing at one point in my life. I know it's not pretty. It can be very painful and unforgiving process.

But by the grace of God you will get through it.

Sincerely,
Lawrence

This sounds like a father who really takes time and commitment to be with his children. Many fathers think that by going to work every day, they have done their job. But small children don't think about that, heck, most kids don't even know what their fathers do for a living. All they want is their father's love and attention.

Thanks for making this so clear to us.

David,

Thank you for your kind words. I strive to be there for my children. It is hard work and takes dedication.  Sometimes I wonder how anyone can rely on television and streets to raise there kids.

Come by anytime.

Sincerely,
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,

How blessed the kids were, for having a father such like you. A man who could offer an unconditional love. A father who personally takes care of his children, the one who is always there to guide, to protect and to  upbrought them the best way  he could.

All the Dads who can read this article will be inspired.

Keep on writing.

Best Regards,
NHiTZ

Christine,

Your comments took me to place inside myself. You brought me to tears. I never thought this poem will touch so many people. I was only expressing what Fatherhood meant to me and what I have experienced. It was my portrayal of those men that had walked away from their children in the middle of the night to go get a loaf of bread and never returned, or abandon there childern because of dissatification with the mother.

I appreciate your kind words, and I want you to know I admire your work tremendously.

Sincerely,

Lawrence
