Stressed out about picking the home builder that's best for you? Picking a home builder is an easy process once you know what to look for. A new home should be an enjoyable experience and if you pick the wrong home builder it can be a nightmare.
As luck would have it there are hundreds of home builders all around that are competing for your business. However, not all of these builders are willing to do a good job for you. Some will be a big disappointment. Some don't meet their deadlines, do poor work, and charge way too much.
So how can you spot the quality home builders from the rest?
The questions that follow are questions that are necessary in the interviewing process when choosing the best home builder. Those questions are:
Do they do any commercial building? You are trying to find out if residential home building is their full time job. You need them to be able to meet the deadlines they promised when building your home. To ensure that your builder needs to do residential building full time.
You don't want a builder that will only spend part time hours building your new home that you will spend many years living in. You want someone who spends all their full time hours gaining the experience they need to do the quality work you deserve.
Are they secure and experienced? Ask them how long they've been in business and in this industry. This will tell you how much experience they have. A company that's been in business for years is less likely to go out of business. Plus, the longer they been doing it the more experience they have.
Also, figure out what type of custom homes they show strength in. You want to match their specialties with your needs.
After the home is built do they offer any services to ensure the quality of their work? New homes don't usually have things to fix or have anything come up but you want to be covered either way.
Are they confident in their quality of work? You find this out by the type of warranty they offer. A weak warranty shows their lack of confidence and a strong warranty shows that they are positive they have done a good job and stand behind it.
How do they work? One way to find out how they work without taking their word for it is to see it yourself. Ask to go down to a job site. Here you can check out exactly what a house they are building looks like.
You can also see the quality of the materials, and how they treat the materials. (Materials should be stored in a cool dry area.) Also, meet with the crew on site. This is the only way you can get a feeling for who is working on your new home.
Remember these six things will give you the confidence you need to choose a great reliable home builder.
