Your marriage proposal is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something unique, memorable and amazing. Make your wedding proposal something that you and your friends will be talking about for years to come.

Here are five creative proposal ideas:

#1 – Online proposal website

With so much of modern life revolving around the Internet, wedding proposal websites are becoming much more popular. These websites allow the groom to be creative, while mixing in a bit of the wow factor of a public proposal. Proposal websites normally have a video that is embedded within the site.

Alternatively, the prospective groom can upload his video directly to a video sharing site, such as YouTube and send the prospective bride the link. For maximum impact, make sure that both of you are in the room while you are watching the video or visiting the site. When she realizes what the video is saying and turns to look at you, you can be down on one knee with the ring behind her.

#2 – Presenting a message in a bottle

This is a romantic way to present the proposal and it makes a wonderful keepsake. Scout antique stores and thrift shops to find an interesting looking bottle. Make sure it's large enough to hold a letter sized piece of paper.

Write down the proposal on elegant looking stationary. If you want, you can make the paper look aged by soaking it in tea and letting it dry before using it. After writing the message, roll it and place it in the bottle. You can present her with the bottle by hand or you can leave it somewhere for her to find it.

#3 – Karaoke date proposal

If you feel your bride-to-be can handle the attention of a public proposal, a karaoke date is a great way to do it. Hit the town with your intended and maybe a few friends. After singing some silly songs together, tell her you have a special tune just for her. Sing a romantic song and end the number by getting down on one knee in front of her.

#4 – Proposal scavenger hunt

Make your girlfriend work for her proposal by setting up a romantic scavenger hunt. Start a days early by leaving clues around your apartment, such as a bridal magazine or an empty ring box. When she questions you, play dumb about it.

Finally, start with the first clue and lead her to different locations either around town or around her apartment. The final clue should lead her to you where you are waiting with the ring at a picturesque spot.

#5 – Re-enact her favorite romantic movie

Few women are unaffected by the symbolism of a man standing outside of a woman's window blasting "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel through a boom box. If she's a "Say Anything" fan you can steal this classic scene as your proposal. You can search online for famous romantic movie moments and then take a cue from the movie for your proposal.

With these ideas, you'll be sure to have a romantic and creative proposal that will be talked about for years to come.
