We all know how much preschoolers love getting messy. A sensory table offers endless opportunities throughout the year, for kids to get messy while having fun and learning.

As a preschool teacher, you remember playing with this stuff as a child, but may not know how it was made. Wait no longer. Here are the recipes/activities that are sure to delight your preschoolers and even the older children/adults.

Gak
We all remember playing in Gak. It is also sometimes called slime. Remember You Can't Do That On Television!" You can add food coloring to this mixture to go along with the theme of the week. Just add equal parts of Elmer's white glue (making sure you are not using the school glue) and liquid starch to a bowl and mix well. You can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Be sure to have a sink with soap nearby for the kids.

Goop
I love goop, definitely my favorite. Use one cup of cornstarch and a half cup of cornstarch. Add water to the cornstarch and mix well. Try more water or cornstarch and see how the mixture changes. You can also add food coloring. One year, we opened a pumpkin and put goop inside for the kids to play with for fall festival. They loved it!

Glubber
What kid doesn't like glubber? Pour four ounces of white glue in a jar. Add four ounces of water to the jar. Add food coloring to the mixture if you want. Mix one cup of water and one teaspoon of Borax together in a bowl and stir well. Slowly add Borax mixture to glue mixture. Stir as you add together. Place the thick slime that forms into your hand and knead it until it feels dry. It will be wet and stringy at first, but the more you play with it, the less sticky and firmer it will become. Storage should be in a zip lock container in the refrigerator.

Rainbow Ice
Fill a bucket full of water, then freeze it. Put the block of ice in the sensory table. Then prepare three cups of salted water: one red, one blue, and one yellow. Use eyedropper to drop the colored water on the block. They will love creating craters in the block.

Fake snow
This is fun for kids because they love shaving cream. Shaving Cream by itself can provide endless entertainment. During winter, add some ice cubes to the snow mixture. Encourage them to even stack the cubes to make snowmen.

You can also make these recipes as a class. The kids will love getting to mix and make the sticky stuff too!
