Michael Jackson is gone. However, he has been gone for a long while.
I'm talking about the boy born with an amazing talent and enthusiasm for his craft, then grew up to be a man with an unworldly talent for singing, dancing, and inspiring millions with his endless energy.
I miss the Michael Jackson who gave the world such wonderful performances with his brothers in spite of, what I believe is, overwhelming abuse from his father and little or no support from his mother.
But, the Michael Jackson that emerged afterwards I do not miss. The young man who gave us the awesome "Thriller" album decided to propagate his abuse on others instead of dealing with it.
His illness manifested itself in mental and physical changes that shocked us and became fodder for the tabloids.
So, I will play my Jackson 5 cds and will mourn for the loss of this amazingly talented man. The world is a much sadder place due to his loss, but not his physical death.
We lost Michael Jackson long ago.

Well stated Ken. He ws destroyed as you stated a long time ago by a system that judges first. What killed him was the fan rejection and now that he can't hear it anymore stangely adulation. Eccentric, certainly, wealthy, yes and he left the door open for the accusations and being sued.
Hi Ken, you are a brave soul to pen these thoughts. I agree with you. I suppose when one is famous it is easier to look at the outward accomplishments instead of looking at the person. His life was sad and tormented and that is heartbreaking. I am having a hard time with some of the things I have seen and heard regarding his being a spiritual leader. The man who was his spiritual advisor, does not even believe in God the creater or His son Jesus Christ, and yet some are calling Michael jackson Divine. very, very sad.
Ken, I am with you on this. I remember the days of the Jackson 5, it really should have stayed that way. Michael had so many weird quirds in his last days, like dressing his kids with mask, wearing one himself, and he soon became a mess. Why he was compelled to change his skin to whiter that white, I will never know. It seems that the older he got, the stranger he got. You are right however in the way you wrote this, his talent as the Jackson 5 will be missed, they great theme song he sang for "Free Willie", and Ben. Those were some of my favorites. I also liked "I'll Be There, 123, and others that the Jackson 5 did. Well written my friend, well said....your friend and fan......Gary.....P.S. I have been gone for awhile working on that book, almost half done....I am taking a rest for awhile from that, but hope to be finished by years end.....
I was never a fan of his music and found he came across as very arrogant. But, even if I am not a fan I can never take away the fact he was a talented man and will be immortalised along with a legacy of performances.
