If you are looking for a wonderful way in which to enhance the southwestern, rustic, western, or Native American theme in your home, consider purchasing a rug with southwest designs. They are an inexpensive way to add color to your room and many people are choosing to purchase one on line.

There one sure thing about using southwestern rugs in your home is that they create an authentic Native American look. They may be used as western accent rugs as well as Southwest area rugs throughout your home or log cabin.

These rugs go wonderful with an American Indian theme. There are many styles from which to choose to create a lovely appearance in your home. These rugs are beautiful works of art and hold a rich and educational history.

Some of the most popular known rugs are Navajo, Mohair, Zapotec, Oaxaca, spirit, and Mexican Guadalupe. All are handmade and go well within a southwestern and western style room. Depictions of important historical events can be found in the mixture of colors and characters which is a symbol of spirituality.

The Southwestern Spirit rug is a prime example of this. It is woven with a variety of colors and designs. The people are very spiritually minded as seen through the various patterns and forms in the weavings of these unique rugs.

The impressive art of rug making is shown throughout their work. They are beautifully made by a skilled weaver. The rug making process is done by a very skilled weaver. The process is started by kneeling in front of a vertical frame loom.

The designs are then put into place by using a shuttle to weave a variety of colored yarn together, making large-scale geometric characters and designs. The original Navajo and other Southwest Indian tribes, made their rugs of hand spun cotton. thread. Once wool from domestic was introduced to the area, it became the main product these colorful rugs were made of.

The weaving of these beautiful rugs are sometimes done in an area where two cultures joined together such as the Spanish and Native Americans. These rugs work fantastic in a southwestern and rustic home decorating theme. They add so much beauty to the area with their rich earth tone colors.

These rugs may be purchased directly from the Native American weaver as well as companies in America. When you buy directly from the Navajo or other American Indian tribes, you'll be helping to support their unique heritage as well as owning a unique piece of history.

Decide on your decorating theme and know what you especially like, before deciding on the rug for your room. Combine your western home furnishings with beautiful southwestern rugs. There are a variety of colors and designs from which to choose in your decorating project. It doesn't matter if you are changing the decor of your room or entire house. A southwestern theme has a lot to offer.

There are many options from which you may choose. Consider using a Zapotec rug, so unusual and woven in bright colors with no two being identical. Southwest table runners and western tapestries are also fantastic choices. Because of the rich colors and lovely textures, these rugs are a favorite of designers. You can enjoy the warmth and beautiful colors these rugs bring into your home no matter what your decorating style.
